Any chance on cutting the duration down? It's killer, especially at low levels.

Point in note, I was fighting a lowbie (16th) shaman, shaman plagues first off, lands no other hits, I flee immediately. Over the course of the plague (20-22 ticks or so) I lose 41% of my health and about 60% mana/moves. Is that at all fair, if one commune lands, and nothing else? I mean, one 15th level commune for crissakes!

How about making it like rot, so you can actually resist the damage every tick that you take, and thus more fair to those that take it? Otherwise, reduce its duration for lowbies. It's a brutal commune/spell to those that have it, but APs get it at 27th so it's a bit easier to avoid then.

There are a lot of plague cures out there. Some are free, but my personal favorites can be bought in a store. They don't come cheap, but they are worth every penny because they almost always work. There are also cure plague potions that you can quaf whilst blind that are pretty nice.

Personally, I like it when a shaman plagues me since I can flee, cure it, and be unharmed by the plague. If he stacks several plagues to get the long duration, one curative still works just as well. Plague is a highly effective spell/supp, but unless you are a rager it is also easily dealt with (just don't let them blind AND plague at the same time).

There's actual an item, limited but just about always in, that will cure disease quite well and heal you and refresh you a bit too. It works good at low levels and you can get it at level 1 and never fight anything on the way there.

Just keep looking or ask around in game and I'm sure you'll find it eventually, but plague is somewhat weak as it is because unless the guy is a rager app or rager with no defenders or rager with no head there 99.98% of people shrug off plague.

Yeah, just to sort of reiterate what Nep said... "heal disease" If you can get to a NPC healer, then the plague commune is virtually useless. If you have to sit it out, then it hurts. The alternative would be to make it wimpy, but uncureable. CF would be boring if everything had to be that simple... it takes a smidgen of strategy and planning this way!

Quaff return; heal disease beats that pretty handily.

If you're a Battle app and can't do that, well, you know what you're getting into or should.

I guess I'd be okay with your solution if we took away heal disease from NPC healers but I don't see that happening.

Sorry Nep but I don't buy your response. Yes if you are able to run, quaff, etc. to a healer that is an instant fix for the problem. But what if your not? Then it is Really lame to have to sit and rot 20 minutes real time to cure some of these things. I really don't think cutting plague durations slightly would be unbalancing to shamans and anti-paladins.
I have been plagued in fights and then teleported away to some remote place my attacker would never find me, far enough away that I could not walk to a healer. If the anti-paladin that stacked those plagues was still looking for me 20 minutes after he struck then fine, but that's not realistic (and he already logged off before the duration was even up). Plaguers don't need 20 real-time minutes of plague duration to be competitive to other classes. It just ruins the fun stick for certain types of characters in these situations.
Have you never been set upon by a higher level necro who slept you and spelled you up just to walk away and laugh at you? Think of the Newbies man! Right now long stackable plague durations punish the player not the character in game. What is another option? Suicide with Exp loss and yet another waste of the players time. Other avenues such as asking other players for help and such are not always an option depending on your race/class/roleplay. And with the small player base during certain times there is not always someone to ask anyway.

If Plague is killing you with any frequency, you could stick to those roles which allow asking appropriate characters for help. You're welcome to attempt the "I'm a super bad-ass who asks for help from no man!" role, but then you don't get to complain that IC help is not available to you.

Or you could barter or buy items which help deal with Plague and other problems.

It's fully intentional that just teleporting and hiding isn't a 100% defense against a malediction class.
