Why cant I enter the thiefs guilds anylonger?

A lurking felar whispers 'I don't show you're a guild member. I can't let you enter.'

It is the same in Galadon.

The minute you spend thief points on a path (as opposed to general thief skills), you are barred from the guilds that require membership. You can still find open guilds to teach you the path skills, though. Also, you can only be a member of one guild.

There are some guilds that require no entrance fee.

Others that do.

The fancy guilds even have leaders:

Thieves Guild
Godfather of Voralian City
Kingpin of Galadon
Spymaster of Blackclaw
Bandit King of Hamsah Mu'tazz
Enforcer of Dagdan

You can only obtain a blackjack from one of the 20k fee guilds! SWEET!

So I'm pretty sure that's incorrect? But I could be wrong.

Blackjack is a general thief skill so it doesn't require a specific guild's guildpath.

Otherwise 20k for thieves isn't much, and is a one-time fee. If you think that's bad, wait until you see what you need to do to become an 'elite' in one of the guilds :) .

Mostly on thief mobs.

I just took a brief glimpse and I see a number of blackjacks available outside of guilds.

Look around, ask other thieves IC. You're a thief, make a coin deal :)

I had 10k copper from selling items in Galadon and to the merchant by the kobold warren but an Arbiter looted it all from my corpse in Galadon. Then I was slain by an assassin just outside of Udgaard trying to find the way to Hillcrest and the thiefsguild there. I ve had enough with this crap and rage deleted. It is good to know when to call it quits.

It's not necessarily built in to the class, but thieves are kind of known for being manipulators. Think social engineering, con-men, etc. So one approach might have been to con the information out of people. Ask other thieves. Failing that, ask non-thieves. Failing that, offer to pay people for the info.

1. There are heroes who would literally throw hundreds of gold at you in order to help you displace guild leaders who are their enemies.

2. Asking people ic would reveal super easy ways of raising the money you need.

For example, a place with 5 shop keepers that buy scrolls has 2 scrolls just waiting to be picked up. So popping in and out of there gives circa 10 gold.

Then there's a place with 6 shopkeepers and 6 gems just waiting to be picked up. Total maybe 20 gold. And of course you can keep picking up gems and sell them elsewhere. And these are sources that many will share ic.

Also, MY character would happily have funded you as I have more gold then I need but could always use someone friendly with steal and detect hidden. And I'm sure I'm not alone in that!

Ps. If you weren't wanted the tribunal committed a crime and you could have reported him for it. Of course, it may not actually have been the trib that took your gold.

There was a PK corpse in Galadon and I tried to pick up something from it (looting it) and the person in question prevented me doing so by a skill, then he WANTED me and got I slain by guards, he took 10k copper from my corpse and my daggers and returned the rest.

Since you can be flagged for murder when the guy survived.

You need to pay dues to be a guild member to get in.
