Years ago, a former IMM Amaranthe, used to run what she called a Character Challenge. Some players may remember this and others perhaps not, but I am in the midst of bringing back this little gem of hers in one form or another. I'm looking to gauge the interest of the playerbase to see if this is something that you would enjoy or not. For those who are wondering what this is or entails..

1. I would create several different characters that may or may not have ties to each other.

2. Each character will have a basic predetermined outline and traits to follow.

3. Unlike the former challenges, you will use those predetermined traits to flush out a role based on the information given to you. A role is a MUST.

4. There MUST be a level of commitment to these characters where your not deleting at the drop of a hat.

5. We all don't care that you have multiple characters/alts that you play, but don't neglect those characters by choosing to participate in this.

6. The characters will be issued out completely random. This is a cool opportunity to play outside of your comfort zone and just have fun with the character.

7. There will be a base theme/plot that will unfold and loose enough that if a character drops it will still survive.

8. Unlike the old Challenges, you will be able to enter into rolecontests because YOU are writing your roles.

9. I will set up some various events involving some of these characters that may or may not be integral to moving along there story.

10. This is for YOU and for YOU to have fun with.

On the 30th of April I'll email all characters out in random fashion
with the details for each. I'll give a few days for if you want to
write out a role then and on May 2nd I'll sent out passwords to login
as those characters..*NOTE* Change your passwords after receiving.

So you'll create (as in actually roll them up) all the characters instead of having the players do it? I guess to be able to do any special settings or make sure they are built properly?

I always, for whatever reason, liked doing the rolls for stats part. I have no idea why. Just felt good to finally get the roll you wanted even though it was always inevitable since you just keep rerolling until you do.

Can a participant state any sort of preference as to things they do not want to play if they want to join this? Like could I just request that I not be assigned a conjurer? Or just have a no arials thing?

Everyone gets the same total number of stat points, the re-roll just shifts its distribution.

By level 20 (extremely dumb races aside) you should have your key stats maxed regardless of roll.

But there are certain distributions that I prefer.
And I never trained any stats, all hp, so it mattered to me to get the just right distribution.

I will email those participating in the challenge your character
details and you go through the character creation process yourself.

Also..Since I have had several requests..

Yes if your a casual player with low play times or you have an
investment in a leader character that you don't want to neglect.

I have a pool of "support/low investment" characters just for this
that are part of the story line, but can be managed with minimal
hours for the casual player. This way you can enjoy and participate in the fun too.

Just include that in your email that you would like a "support character".

I recall Amaranthe asking people to rate themselves on a 1 - 5
scale for each category i.e RP, PK, something else ability.

Schedule? Ideally you wouldn't want two character meant to be
interacting with eachother as part of the challenge never logging
in at the same times.

There is not going to be any rate yourself type things on either
PK or RP. The object of this is going to be the randomness of it.
I would rather not set times and dates for people to meet up in
game as well. You all will see by the story line as it unfolds and
or players manipulate the story itself. There might be characters
that need to find another character by clues presented to them.

I'd love for a way to opt in on this. I don't want to make a new character but this is a great idea and I'd be psyched to be a part of it. Feel free to work me into the story somehow! My times should be getting back up to snuff.

Seconded, and likewise. Not interested in rolling another alt, but would love to fit in the story where I can.

Your are completely fine opting out and...

Manipulating the plot of the characters or trying to prevent them
from meeting any goal, or helping them is perfectly fine.

Remember..Carrion Fields is an open world game and we encourage
Roleplaying, not just Pking. Have fun with it any way you wish.

I would expect if there is a character running around that is say..

An Anathema..That all Imperials are gunning for them.

If you want imperials to actually go after them.

When I've been an anathema I've been surprised by how few are after me. Especially given how nice a tool the divine sect has for dealing with them.

Emmy said he'd likely be emailing out the info on the 30th, and then you'd be good to roll on May the 1st.

That's for folks who forgot the timeline or thought it was unclear.

A lot of work on your end with not enough people playing right now to give it any sort of positive results. Most people will delete or lose interest pretty quickly.

If you are one of those ‘well if this positively impacts one or two people then it was worth it’ people then go for it.

Otherwise there is probably funner stuff to spend your time on.

Sounds awesome. Any idea when you're looking at doing this?
