72634, Accelerate
Posted by Questioner! on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I just read some logs on Dios and noticed that people using accelerate from potions don't have the negative impact, specifically the constant loss of movement, that people get when affected by accelerate from an actual transmuter. Why? It's the same spell, there shouldn't be a difference in affect. And even if there were, wouldn't it make more sense that the actual mage one would be better than the mechanical prep one?

pushing for changes that get things removed, not added.

You dodge Cheyerre's divine power. You parry Cheyerre's divine power. You parry Cheyerre's divine power. You parry Cheyerre's divine power. You parry Cheyerre's divine power. Cheyerre parries your smash. Your wrath MASSACRES Cheyerre! Your smash DISMEMBERS Cheyerre! Cheyerre has some small but disgusting cuts.

I would add that not being able to rest after a fight is a large downside, too.

I disagree that the resting is a large downside.
The prep's duration (the one most people seem to use) is short anyway.
And it is unbalanced to our in a prep that's easy to get, unlimited, significantly improves fighting, and has minimal downsides for a large subset of the mud.
The imms removed sharkbait for balance reasons once that became well known (because I shared it ic with a newb who posted about it on the forums). That was harder to find, harder to get from the tougher mob, highly limited so easier to lose control of, stake out for ambush, etc. And then they put in this accelerate prep? It really needs to come out imho as it upsets balance and adds to prep inflation.

This is simply misinfo. Movement burned is triggered by all sorts of things on accelerate, not just dodge.

72659, Guessing this was aimed at quixotic not me

It's not me who said that Dodge didn't drain moves.
Try the prep and you'll see that generally the movement drain is not a significant issue for most classes. Unless you decide to start a fight on low moves or attack with other things that drain moves.

Without being able to confirm, I think the constant loss is due to haste + accelerate and transmuters do receive offset due to a skill they get which I'm spacing on said name.

I think you may be thinking of metabolic unity.
