Is a rending gale attack meant to be an air-based attack? And if so, shouldn't airshield protect against it?

This has been brought up in the past, on the bug board...
It was ruled by design then. I think the reason given was
"area author's disgression".

Not making a stand either way, just relaying what I remember.

Did a search for it, and found something about it from back in 2003 (which explains why I don't remember it, since I didn't play that year). It wasn't area author's disgression (rending gales can be found in more than one area). Nep said it was that way due to something about how damage was defined and it could possibly be updated at some point in the future. So, uh, I guess this is just sort of a reminder in case things have been changed to more easliy allow for it.
