7224, A small tweak to village berserkers

Now I am well aware a lot of people might think this idea to be overpowered but I think that recently and for the last few months with the exception of warcry pummel and warcry flurry warriors we have not seen very many village berserkers. The reasoning for this is that scouts and defenders are just all around a lot better equiped to not die than a berserker is. Now I have always envisioned berserkers as the frothy mouthers barbarians with nothing but a loin cloth and a pair of axes just going nuts attacking evetying that moved in a battlefield whereas scouts and defenders would be like your typical seasoned veterans calculating and working well in formations and such.

Now the power bloodthirst represents the supper batte prowess of a berserker, most would say deathblow but if I had to choose between the two I would take bloodthist every day of the week because it is a skill that raises a warriors overall power level as opposed to deathblow which is very unreliable. The tweak I would like to make to bloodthirst is to add a small ability to it, a chance to get one attack at every person attacking you. The reason for this is as I see when they go into a blood rage they strike at everythingt they see (via auto attack) why not when they sense someone attacking them quickly lash out now and then back at them.

How I think it would be balanced, based on a villagers skill at bloodthirst as well as class and dexterity and strength have a chance for a swing round in which they get one attack on everyone fighting them except the person they fight directly, to balance perhaps make it immposible to deathblow on this attack. In this way we add a bit of flavor to berserkers while not making them stronger against solo people. Hopefully with the change we will see more berserkers just wading into large groups thirsty for blood and not simply get lagged to death while the victims keep switching tanks.

but didn't you just recommend a toning up with no corresponding toning downs, and say that it would be balanced because on these extra attacks you can't hit your enemies for deathblows?

Dagger specs and sword specs already get the ability you mentioned, as do elves. In addition you could take the legacy that lets you get hits on people when they flee, or, if you are a thug thief, get the strike on the abandoned (very nice btw).

All those things work against rotating tanks. Not every beserker should be immune from that. Fleeing is bad against a berserker so a rescue is normally required.

No offense, but if you are getting kept permalagged whilst rescues etc are going on, you are fighting groups that are too large. Some things are meant to be too much for even a berserker to cope with. The change you are suggesting is meant to make it impossible for a large group to kill you without some of them dying first.

A large group should be able to kill you.

well after I posted I got to thinking more about that and I figured skills that require a lot of finesse such as concealed and riposte would have a negative affect, ultimatly I see bloodthirst as dulling ones senses and charging ahead blindly, i think most characters do a very poor job of roleplaying their ailments and benifits, myself included. I have lately been thinking that if you use skills or spells that are related to your physical condition or mood perhaps you should act like they do more than play with numbers. It would be cool to see a plagued warrior moaning about his soars or say a bloodthirsty warrior who umm well is bloodthirsty instead of just autoattacking for instance I never got how if a villager is thirsting and someone who is not normally an enemy walks into them they just flee and yell sorry try to go around, I think it would be better rp for them to maybe give a short chase or just try to kill them if they walk in, sure people will whine and cry about it but as long as a player is not abusing this to kill people consistantly then there should be no problem.

7225, Aren't berserkers harder to get inducted than scouts and defenders?

If so, I'd directly tie that to any decline in the number of berserkers sooner than anything else.
