Here is an edited log with names and prompts removed to protect the innocent. It LOOKS to me like a 5 hit drum not only lagged me for ~2 rounds but also only lagged the drummer for 1.9 rounds (he got another drum off before hurl torso went through). Can someone break down the lagging associated with this skill for me?

Western Outskirts of Galadon
Standing at the outskirts of Galadon, you can see the enormous battlements of
the city to the east. Tall spires and towers rise high above the wall,
glinting in the bright sun. The city stretches for miles to the north and
south, one of the largest cities in the realm. The vast Feanwyyn Weald lies
off to the west, away from the dirt trail. The forest extends as far north
and south as you can see, truly an enormous forest. The old dirt trail
continues around the edge of Galadon to the north and south.

Seems your understanding is correct, you just didn't know that previously and/or don't like it.

What has been said is correct. A 5 hit drum does 2 and a bit rounds of lag allowing for the mace user to get in the next command.

Is totally not how I envision the drum skill looking/working.

I think of it more like a guy with two big hammers playing a timpani (kettle drum) solo about the head and shoulders of his opponent.

I will concede that your quest for facts in this case is likely more "Accurate" :)

I see a 5-hitter lagging them at most for one round there.

Shall I dig up the logs of trip lagging for 1 round?

All others I've seen (and experienced) show drum lagging only for one round.

In that I don't believe smurf 5 hit drums give you the good stuff, but that could be my own mis-remembering.
