67002, Deny anathemizing while ghost
Posted by Analthema on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Since some of the players are totally inadequate and blaming anyone else in their fults, and anathemizing everyone after their death, I suggest to deny anathemizing while ghost. So some inadequate players would chill out a bit and probably come back to the sanity before they ruin other player's 100-200 hours investements into their characters.
67006, No thanks

Thats part of the fun with Empire, easy come easy go. They have some of the best powers on the mud and in 99% of situations the greatest ease of access.
67009, Standard answer :( NT

I hope someday you'll begin to listen players. No offense, but for years staff didn't listen anyone and see what you have now.
67011, Brb, going to nerf reanimate then...

If we listened to every single thing that players asked for, we would make other players unhappy at the same time. Its a simple matter of trying to make a decision that has the highest overall positive impact.

Luckily you can play a cabal other than Empire if you dislike the fact that you can be made Anathema at any given time.

Hehe.

No, I'm not saying that you should listen ALL the wishes. But at least some. I NEVER ever seen staff would listen ANY idea (I'm sure there were, but I, personally, NEVER seen it in what, 15 years now?).

I have an idea, I'll post it later. Hope you won't delete it :P
67013, That's a fine example of tunnel visiou

When shapa asked for lizard tail scrolls to be removed - they were removed.

And we are thankful for that, even if Murphy thinks that made bards unplayable.
67015, Thanks!

Hurrah! Now I know THE ONE change (nerf) that were players-driven in 15 years of CF existence! :D

I'll drink for it this evening.
67016, It's the other way around

You've said there were none, I've proved you wrong.

Now we know you're wrong, nananananana, nananananana.

But don't drink too much anyway :)

I don't remember what they were, but I know some of my suggestions have been implemented. Then again I'm on staff.

67022, sweet! Or just make spellbane work vs it ;)

I actually have written up some well-thought out feedback for you (not about reanimate). That I intend to post - you challenged me to play in the "new" CF and I did!
67020, RE: No thanks

I agree, if its going to happen its going to happen.

This will just delay the inevitable.

Besides there is life after Anathema. :)
67023, A miserable one, but yes :) NT

67004, Interesting.

This would give a whole new meaning to running in to an inner to quickly unghost.

But seriously, it's a good suggestion.

I'm in two minds re this.

If a character is volatile and quick to anath for stuff they are themselves at fault for doesn't that increase their chances of being overthrown? Or demoted in turn?

IC he is Emperor and can do whatever he want with his pets. So if he anathemize everyone, it also would be ok. But from RL point of view, it's totally NOT ok, because he is failing and screwing other players totally in anger.

BUT I don't think he should be demoted/kicked. He is playing a psychopathic character (which he is in RL, from what I gathered), but that's even amusing. I like it much better than, say, all-loving Gaspare, who made peace with everyone and a year of boredom (just my opinion) :)

There is only one problem - his temper and tunnel vision when his beloved character dies. But also I believe (though it's not certain) that should he have a timer on anathema, he could think not only about his harmed ego, but also of other players time investements, probably (but not certainly) he would calm down and regain ability to think clearly. And other players would have a chance to explain what happened. For instance, in his previous death, his healer couldn't do anything (scourged, dispelled, without mana).
67008, Being on the demotion/anathema end more than once

I say it's cool both IC and OOC. The powertripping paranoid imperial brings his doom upon himself, but while he's at it - he's the epitome of evil empire, which is amazingly cool from RP PoV.

As for the "hours invested in a character" - by joining the Empire, you sign below "I'm aware that I'll have powertripping junkies as my superiors and it's my goal to outlast them and anathema them before they anathema me". Taking this #### too close to your heart will ruin your sanity, which is bad.
67010, I don't argue
Posted by Analthema on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
If player is screwing seriously, breaking laws, etc - sure, he deserves anathema. But when the player did everything possible, and his superior died because his own stupidity and failures, it's not right to screw other players.
67014, That's Empire for you
Posted by Kstatida on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Be ready to be screwed at all times. If you read carefully Destuvius' comments in imperial character PBFs, you'll know his stance on this. And it's not lovey-dovey.
67017, Yep

This is why I didn't like Gaspare's leadership (though I liked his RP and other things). I said about it earlier, go re-read it :)

But also I dislike when players are getting anathemized because of RL sanity problems. :D

In this scenario why don't you just jloot him as anathema? Sounds like he has a lot more to lose in a loot war than you.
