6399, Invokers and One Perspective

I may be the only one running into this or it's being blocked from the boards. ( I only say that because I've posted two other posts about this and seen neither nor earned a reply) but can we please alter the invoker touches?

I'm all for getting better as you fight stuff, but when you get two 20th and two of your four touches still won't perfect it gets old really fast. Give us the option of the old spam way to master them at least, because I'm getting tired of having to hang my rear out there underspelled either alone or when I can find a group hoping that the random number generator will give me an improvement. Playing three hours for a 1% jump from 95 to 96 is horrible. It wouldn't matter except I'm denied spells until I perfect these and so on and so forth. It's getting to the point where I lose interest in the character because where I used to be ecstatic when I'd finally perfect that spell that had been a monumental pain in the rear now it's just a bland hope I get better sort of thing. Nolonger a matter of if I keep at it I'll get it without having to outrank all the spells I should have already. It's sad.

My perspective is about this being a moderated forum. I understand the need, however I'm not sure I understand the intelligence behind character's having to post via a specific name. Is there a way to log in in your account and use another pseudonym so that you can ask questions about issues relating to a current character without basically broadcasting who you are and what you're presently playing? If there isn't there should be in the interest of your own rules.
Thanks, though I'm not sure if this post will disappear like the last two.

Had a gnome invoker last week. Solo ranked to 7 (including xp from quests, academy gear, etc.) and had channel heat perfected in two hours. Solo ranked to 10 and had frost fingers perfected in another two. Cyclone perfected at level 11 or so and acidic was getting up there before I decided to call it quits.

My only beef is that spellcraft went up once in all that time.

Are you playing a race with low int?

No, not a dark elf or elf but only slightly less. I did ok with both fire and cold as well, I'll be honest and say that I haven't put a whole tone of time into shocking yet, but acidic has been busting me. I've solo-ranked two 11th for the most part and did fine, suddenly acidic hits the mid 90's and freezes on me. I join groups to advance thinking I need to fight few lucky to razor to get better and after 2 hours and two subsequent levels I get a !% improvement. I agree wholeheartedly about the spellcraft I know that previously it was mentioned that it 'can' still 'possibly' increase from simple casting but my experience with such mirrors your own.

My last invoker had mastered spellcraft by 23 I think presently I'm not too far off from reaching that tier and I've improved maybe twice at it? Huge difference.

I can deal with going up slower with respect to that if I could actually keep up with just getting spells I should have had several levels ago considering my main objective is perfecting my touches so I can get those selfsame spells. It's frustrating...

Thanks for the input regardless.
And thanks for the info about the posting forums Q.

I know what you're talking about. We'll look at it.

It just lends a certain accountability so people know who they
are dealing with. You're welcome to register a couple accounts
if you want to, and you definitely do not have to register as
your character's name. A lot of the posts people make are about
stuff they read, not their own character, so I wouldn't be overly
concerned about the who's playing what aspect.

That said, the forum code is proprietary, so I'm not sure how
much we can really do with it.

What you could do, and I have suggested before, is allow someone to type in a different name at the post point. Meaning, they have to log in as usual (so you can track them) but the post itself can be anonymous. Currently you can only type in a subject. There is no box for you name. You could let someone put in any name there they want, but you, the staff, would still have a record of who the poster really is because he had logged in with his real nick.

Which is why I mentioned the propietary nature of the
code and not knowing if we can even do that.

My recollection from an earlier discussion of this was that it was do-able, but a deliberate decision not to.

If that is mistaken and you simply cannot do it, then of course I understand.

But if it could be done (as I think it can) but has been decided not to be done, I think we would certainly benefit from hearing a reason why.

Thanks.

I think perhaps that the reason could be because it's not possible to moderate whatever name someone might put in. Understandable in a sense that you wouldn't want players putting (insert Imm name + sucks) or some other stupid thing. If that's the case I understand, and I agree that we can have more than one possible sign in name that's unrelated to any characters we've had or have, but each requires an email address and it's a pain to keep up with those so you can keep the initial email sent to you for your password. I can never remember mine and if there's a way to change it on the site I've yet to find it.
Just two cents... could be wrong.

There's nothing in place right now to prevent players from putting stuff like that in the body of a post and we seem to do alright. If somenoe did, their post would be deleted and they'd be banned. The same could be done if they put the offending text in the "User" field.

Maybe I was incorrect about the forum and such. If so my bad and ignore my blabbering.
