63518, Please give us more options to prolong character hours.

I am tired of age-dying too quickly. 450-500 hours for a nonleader pretty much sours me against playing humans, arials and orcs.

Felar is slightly better and so far I was lucky with maximum age rolls but even 700 hours with leader time is too little.

My fav class is shapeshifter and I can't even use -age gear. I guess an elf shifter could last but... elf shifter, seriously? Meh. Especially given the elf's 800 isn't that much more to justify being a horribly underpowered gimp.
63595, Really, just make -age items work in form
Posted by Murphy on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Why are shapeshifters singled out of this? This is so not fair.
63597, If -age item work in form

I demand animal lifespan applied to them. Like you're 20 years old elf, shapeshift cat - instantly die of old cat age, because 20-year old cat is definitely a mummy.

If you're a middle-aged elf, you're going to shapeshift into a middle-aged cat.

Now, I could see time spent in form affecting your lifespan adversely if you're a long-lived race, but that's just cruel.
63520, That might be a worthwhile edge to add!
Posted by Destuvius on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
And we all know how much you love edges. Could be something akin to resurgent vitality that gets more expensive if you were to take it multiple times, but have it give age extension instead of con.
63521, Yes please.
Posted by Athioles on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I have similar frustrations as the Murph in this regard.
63522, Well, I'm likely to exhaust my EP long before I reach old age
Posted by Murphy on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
but since old age itself nets you a significant amount of EP, I guess I would be willing to blow them on such an edge instead of taking that long-awaited "Eyes in the Back of Your Head" or whatever.
63523, I suppose a secondary thing that I could talk to Umi about
Posted by Destuvius on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Would be a way to manually adjust it, similar to how we can give players a con quest. Hard to say which one (if either) would actually see the light of day.
63524, Are you saying there isn't a way?
Posted by Murphy on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I was absolutely sure my lifespan was adjusted up when I played Kowelu, since I was given a quest form very late in life and they probably wanted me to have some time to enjoy it.

He currently holds the record for longest lived felar at 104 years.
63525, RE: Are you saying there isn't a way?
Posted by Umiron on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
It looks like death age is something a sufficiently high level immortal can set, but I don't see that Kowelu's was.
63526, Sigh...
Posted by Murphy on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I guess it isn't reasonable to think someone would pick up on my role about wanting to live a longer life, and give me a quest or something.

Can't blame for not running with the vampire idea either, though if Kowelu wasn't good enough for it, then probably none of my characters ever will.

And he probably wasn't.
I mean, they didn't even let me be High Herald :(

>I mean, they didn't even let me be High Herald :(

As an aside, this will never happen, and it wasn't a personal thing.
Herald has a natural neutral/good lean on it.

Evil Herald? Yes (but tricky). Evil HH? No.
63536, I know, I was just saying that
Posted by Murphy on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
getting a quest for extra lifespan, or to become a vampire, felt like something much LESS likely to happen than an evil HH.
63538, RE: I know, I was just saying that

>getting a quest for extra lifespan, or to become a vampire,

This is probably true in that extending someone's age isn't something most immortals likely realize is even possible, and even then I'm not positive it works right. And vampires don't really exist, they're just a stubbed race we added a long time ago because somebody wanted it for their religion (or so that's my understanding).
63539, Yep, ok. Sorry I sounded a bit whiney for a moment.

nt
63540, That would have been Eshval

Man, that tattoo was badass...

The hell group I invoked it by freaked out when it let me recall to her temple.
63560, Felar vampire?
Posted by Kstatida on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
They make bloody milk out there?
63561, No, vampire shapeshifter.
Posted by Murphy on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
He wouldn't be a felar any more that a mummy is a human.
63562, RE: No, vampire shapeshifter.
Posted by Kstatida on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Only if they pull out those whiskers and cut those kawaii pointy ears. Which they don't. So no.
63563, Hah, you're right
Posted by Murphy on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
The whole point of wanting to go vampire was so I could keep my whiskers, ears and tail.

Cue "we have the documents" joke that only Russians will understand.
63566, Lol

P.S. Sorry for hijacking important threads.
63559, That's actually a very good idea

Way to go!
