63436, Natural Weapon Spec Questions
Posted by A wood-elf on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
1) I think someone claimed on QHCF that natural weapon spec was nerfed post-Aulrathdien. Is this true? I didn't see any announcements on the code changes about it.

2) Is ivory considered bone and therefor natural?

3) Why isn't dragonbone natural? It makes complete sense it should be. It's bone after all.

4) Why isn't obsidian natural? Again, volcanic rock seems pretty natural to me.

5) I assume other "gem" type materials are considered stone and also natural?

Thanks, peace.
63456, I asked about dragonbone awhile back.

The answer I got (and I don't remember from who) was that dragons aren't "natural" creatures, thus the difference between a bone weapon and a dragonbone weapon.

Natural Weapon Spec was adjusted most recently on 31-Jan-13.

>2) Is ivory considered bone and therefor natural?

Ivory is bone, so yes.

I don't know.

I don't know.

Presumably. Each material has a "material type" and certain types are considered natural, so it depends. I would assume most gem-like materials are natural, though.

Peace.

On the dragon bone and obsidian part. Ever consider making them included under the natural materials umbrella? Do you have an opinion or feeling about this one way or other?

If the answer is you don't care enough to mess with it. That's cool. Just wondering what your thoughts are.

I assume it's by design, but if I did change it, I would also probably "nerf" NWS even more because while there aren't that many dragonbone weapons, if you're wielding one it's probably because it's a very nice weapon in the first place. Part of what made the proposition of the edge acceptable when it originally went in was the fact that there weren't a lot of desirable weapons made of natural materials. Then people (heroimms, mostly) went to town and the edge is a lot more attractive than it was back then.

I guess then leave it alone! Haha. I don't know exactly how good the bonus is. I've been trying to get a grasp on that but it's hard to estimate damage in CF. sometimes it looks decent other times it looks just fair. As it is though I think there are lots of natural weapons in that mid range but they become much more scarce as the ave gets above 22 where I'm sure the bump really does its thing.

Thanks again for having this discussion and being candid about it.

63448, Adjust power by material type, perhaps? nt
