Once choice is really too limiting.
I'd take tiger, lion or ram depending on the situation. If I weren't going to PK then I'd want alligator so I could go underwater.

64, Question on the history of some of the forms.

This is an honest question. Not a bitch.
Please tell me at which point I am wrong.
1) Panther hit less* than the Tiger, but was better at dodging, so it balanced.
*By less, I mean either less hard or less often, or a combination of both.
at that time, the dodge ability of offense majors was(from most to least dodging) Jaguar Panther Tiger lion ram alligator
This was balanced, because from jaguar to ram, as the dodging got less...the damage went up...until alligator which dodged least, but had some very decent damage reduction and regeneration to make it balanced.
2) Then a couple panthers raped people repeatedly, and there were many complaints. The Immortals found the panther to be unballanced(with other classes, not with other offense forms). so the panther's dodging ability was cut dramaticly...leaving it like
jaguar tiger panther lion ram alligator
Conclusion:
Now the panther is not balanced with the other offense forms, because while it dodges less than tiger...it still does less damage.
If my conclusion is wrong, please tell me why it is wrong.

>at that time, the dodge ability of offense majors was(from >most to least dodging) >Jaguar >Panther >Tiger >lion >ram >alligator
Before it was changed, panther dodged better than any offense form except possibly tiger. Except it also hit harder and more often than the tiger. What was changed is the dodging ability, which is now somewhere between lion and tiger (just my estimate).
Pre-change defense: tiger/panther, jaguar, lion, ram. Alligator is hard to place since it dodges poorly but (I think) has dam reduction.
Pre-change offense: ram, lion, panther/jaguar, tiger. Alligator is again hard to place since it gets one big attack instead of many smaller attacks. Maybe put it between panther and jaguar.
With the panther changes everything stays the same offensively, except now the panther dodges less like a tiger and more like a lion.
Here's my problem with the changes. Panther may still be the best "all around" offense form if you consider tank-ability together with offense, but the special skills are lacking compared to the others.
The things I want from an offense form are:
1) Massive damage output, and/or
2) ability to keep people in combat.
For #1 you have lion/ram (and maybe alligator).
For #2 you have tiger (pounce) and lion/ram (rake/butt).
Tanking is nice, but given wands it's not that big a deal unless you're fighting big groups (which I typically avoid) or gathering preps that require you to solo-kill semi-tough mobs.

I guess they changed the Jaguar as well when they lowered the Panther's. When I had it rather recently it only had average dodging ability. It really didn't dodge that well, definately less then the tiger. I agree that with only average dodging panther and especially jaguar aren't nearly as good as they do less damage then the other major offensive forms. Jaguar really kicked ass in the forests, but the problem was getting people to stay in a fight with you there. Usually after my first ambush they quaffed or ran like hell.
