I have updated the helpfiles for DISCUSS and BESEECH to reflect the recent change documented here: http://forums.carrionfields.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=47&topic_id=130&mesg_id=130&page=
Going forward, mages will be allowed to specify the type of hint they wish to receive. As the helpfile indicates, specifying a type you are not currently eligible for (because you've gotten that type of wand too recently) will result in a random selection like usual.

I'm not a mage, but I definitely think this is a good thing (having played some mages in the past :))
There's a typo in the update helpfile of discuss though (last sentence)
