58331, Svirfneblin / Fluid Deceptions
Posted by NoobAgain on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Has anyone tried a svirf with fluid deceptions? Curious how it would work with 18int / 20 dex...
How would auto-feint work?
How would feint command = 2x feint work?
P.S.: Is there any legacy that's better than autumn's harvest for a svirf that's not restricted by the use of potions?

58338, Gates on a Village Svirf was insane.

I geared with Gates in mind and on a good day had between -300 and -350 AC before stoneskin.
Granted, I had Thror's tat as well, but I remember one time going to take down the Archmage of the HTOS with several other Villagers and some of them were taking ***DEMOs*** through Resist and I was taking lowercase damage.

58335, Thank you!

Thank you very much for the feedback. My "P.S." question was too broad, you're absolutely right - it depends on too many things/options/enemies. It's just that in my mind, I think svirf/gnome and it immediately associates with Autumn Harvest. Of course if you are facing a lot of non-melee, that doesn't entirely help you...

Autumn Harvest - This has some use even without potion use, as you are constantly forcing your opponents to shrink down to your size to negate bonus defense or be able to bash well at a size up. Maybe not what I would choose on a villager, but even if you don't want to use potions all the time it could have use.
A lot of legacy choices come down to what weapons I am using and whether I want to make my strengths stronger or shore up a weakness. It is hard to give advice on this without a complete layout, and even with a char that I design from level 1 up with choices in mind they can still change by the time I get to 44/48.
All that being said, if you want to give me more details I can try to give you some options.

Feint is mostly about skill so in that sense a svirf (or any other build) is not going to suffer very much, however int/dex do factor in to the Fluid Deceptions double-feint/disarm bonus, so you'll see less of that on a svirf than you would with an arial, for example.
However, the auto-feint also looks to be pretty much just a skill check so you'd do okay there as well.
As for the P.S., that's too vague and subjective a question to answer with a specific legacy.

"Better" is a very difficult thing to truly define. There are a lot of different legacies that can and would do well with a svirf. One that some people have had decent mileage out of in the past was using Gates with the inherent stoneskin of svirfs.
