58328, Given the ychram incident

I'm wondering what imms think about changing the delete system. Maybe typing delete puts you on a 2 week timer for auto deletion? Or not really that good an idea?

58330, Wouldn't address the issue

If someone obtains your password somehow (*), they can change your password upon login. At that point, we have no access to password information (by design) and can't change it back so you can log in. The current system gives you complete control of your character, and lets you know you're the only person who can play it.
The sensible precaution for the future is to use a unique password for your characters. Changing the deletion rules would be a bandage, and not a very effective one.
(*): This seems to be the case here, although we are of course still investigating where we can. Ychram's password was entered correctly on the first attempt.

It seems unnecessary. While I feel for the player in this situation, its also pretty safe to say that this is not an epidemic of instances where we have people losing chars for odd reasons.
