57544, How to effectively farm various exp in the new CF
Posted by Leaf on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Play every aspect of the game; RP, explore, pk, trade*.
RP with PC's, NPC's, Imms. It is a roleplaying game after all.
Explore things, because no one knows everything about this game. Trust me, you don't.
PK because it is a PK game after all. Or run from PK's and hope you get the killing blow in massive gangs, like I do. Actively running from other people is still participating in PK. My heart sure races at least.
Trade, usually with NPC's (or sell/buy, I don't care), but man do I miss the days when people would auction #### gear and I'd geek thinking I was doing something special getting my jeweled broadswords.
If you do all of these things, you will get all of the edge points and will therefor win CF. I applaud you now.
*If this sounds like I am suggesting people in fact play the game, By Design.

57545, Was meant as more of a mechanics question than a philisophical question.

I realize after reading a few of the other threads here it wasn't a very good question and likely passive aggressive.

It might just be me but I have no idea at all what you're trying to ask.

57543, From the other board..

in a thread that turned into complaint about edges someone posted
Walk around and talk to mobs IC. It isn't that hard. n/t - jalim two days ago
Haven't played much since a little before edge changes, so just trying to shift through it all still. Read some of the other threads here which probably answered my question well enough, just that post and a few others made it sound like it was still possible to effectively farm edge points if you knew how.

57546, Don't be foolish

Rp with other players. They don't have to be in your pk.
Rp with a mob is more of an occasional thing and it doesn't really matter what mechanic is used when it makes sense to have the rp. Pointless interaction with mobs will yield nothing.

57555, I'm pretty sure the point is that now the best way to get edges is immexp... and imms want you to rp with random mobs and hope imms are snooping.
Posted by KoeKhaos on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
At least that is the impression I got from Rayihn when I was playing an empowered and asked her a question. Personally, RPing with NPCs feels stupid as hell. Anyone who does such a thing for hours... I'd honestly wonder about their sanity. On the other hand, I really enjoyed exploring. The same places are still fun to explore again with a new character. Find out new things I didn't know before, see how the challenge adds up with a different class, etc. On the other hand, I don't really like dealing with imms. You have to go looking for them and tailor something to a way that you can RP with them. It's just not in my play style as a loner/explorer type of player. So people like me will end up with little to no immexp ever. No PK exp either. So exploration/observation was the ONLY way I got edges before. So now... I would end up with even less.

57558, Just curious

Why do you need edges if you don't pk?

57559, Because some edges are huge even exploring?
Posted by Anti-Hero on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I would use Gloryhound for bards as an example. Does nothing in PK. Having it in an area explore is a very large difference in performance.

57562, Exactly, there are very few edges that are pk specific.
Posted by KoeKhaos on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Extra mana regen, extra hp regen, strong back, protections from blindness, knockout, better conjurer servitors and familiar edges, gloryhound as he mentioned, all of these are great for exploring. And it's not to say I don't pk, just that I don't go well out of my way for it.

57570, Free convenience bonuses should not be allowed!
Posted by Murphy on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
If CF was meant to be convenient, stone skin would last 100 ticks instead of 10.
