57374, CF Questions that the playerbase must have answered
Posted by Doof on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
1) How do you pronounce Whiysdan? 2) Is Umiron pronounced Uh-miron, Ooo-miron, or You-miron? 3) Do the Imms ever laugh on private channels at the poor attempts at dwarven accents? 4) Do the Imms ever laugh at players getting butt-stomped? 5) Will Daevryn ever answer one of my characters' prayers? 6) Speaking of Daevryn, is it Day-vryn, Dah-vryn, or Die-vryn? 7) How many Imms play multiple Imms? 8) Is Market Square the most heavily trafficked PK spot? 9) With the new (kinda new) "pagan" religions, will a player following a dead religion (Holtzendorff, Zulgh, etc) ever get a response, or would this be a no-no? 10) Will you ever consider tinkerers as a class? 11) Will Matrik ever get his halflings? Please say no. 12) Is mud-sexxing in Market Square a bad idea? Other than getting PKed, that is? 13) Since Arkham isn't original, do I have a chance of getting empowered by Cthulhu?
Thanks for any responses. I'm sure I'm not the only one who needs these answered.

10) Will you ever consider tinkerers as a class?
Probably not. Should we complete the work on Enchanters, one of the two subclasses is Artificer, which would (I imagine) have some overlap.

57391, Artifinkerers are close enough. Thanks! n/t

Halfling Cavaliers. Giant badger mounts. Halfling sized lances. Halfling duelists with rakish hats.
I wish you would stop trying to make it perfect and just release stuff. Fix it as you go. There will be an outrage by curmudgeonly "vets", but some dude will be googling "mud where I can play a Halfling Cavalier" and CF won't come up until you implement that awesomeness. I certainly google it all the time. Maybe even more than porn.
Implement the (race, class, profession, whatever) with one skill. I'll play it and you can fix it as we go. No matter how over-powered the skill, believe me I'll find a way to suck it up so no one gets hurt.
Actually, I won't play it, but I know people who will. Unless it's a Halfling cavalier.

Careful with Enchanters.. A previous place I used to play brought them in and IMO they destroyed the mud/lost a lot of people. Basically due to the fact their abilities made most general EQ and even some of the rare EQ, sub-par. It will be a delicate balance I am sure and hope.

You're reinforcing over cautiousness! Stop that. Balance is for gnomes. Orange you glad this is the Shire?
Let's implement everything asap with as little planning and/or thinking ahead as possible. That kind of thing is for people who get paid to do their work. In this environment: Spray and pray.

57397, Ugh?

I can no longer tell how non-/serious you are.

57399, I support his cavalier attitude

I bet he seriously doubts CF would go that direction.
But I believe that keeping the classes fresh would retain players and bring old ones back. CF doesn't have the resources to thoroughly test and implement all the awesome stuff that the players would like to see and the implementors probably want to create. So a fast and loose perma-beta would be...uhhmm...a way to do it.
But don't crash the MUD.
|
57403, I'm not sure about this. It sounds good until the squealing starts when a player starts butt-stomping the rest of the MUD with an OP skill. n/t

57405, Already happens.
Posted by Tsunami on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Every little change provokes that. Whether it is warranted or not.
What's more is, even if the change really is pretty dumb/bad/whatever, most of the people left are sycophants anyway. They will just take their pill and go right back to sleep.
|
57409, I like the idea too.
Posted by xrus on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
A fresh class with bare minimum obvious skills (which exist already and need no implementations)
There need to be some beta testers, and the class can recruit new members as they go, and they can develop new skills with the help of the testers. The class will be mostly weaker than any other class. But as one who cannot own others already, I'll be willing to take part in something new, at least.

57444, beta testing...
Posted by Scarabaeus on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
...might be something that happens, should we move forward with it.

57400, I think the real problem...
Posted by Tsunami on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
is that I'm not sure I can either. Must mean I'm pretty good at what I do.
I can tell you one thing I'm serious about though: Halflings. Put out or get out.

57401, I find myself agreeing with the crazy person...

I'm now concerned about my own mental health and considering contacting a professional.

57402, What?
Posted by Tsunami on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I haven't done anything crazy. That's not very nice to say.
|
57404, which previous place?
Posted by Sarien on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I am curious.
|
57502, I SO hope that artificers will show up eventually!
Posted by Amberion on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
The whole idea and lore behind them in CF makes it all very exciting! After reading A LOT about them in ST and all over the mud. :)

That's how you pronounce the name, WEES-DAN.
Cheers!

>3) Do the Imms ever laugh on private channels at the poor >attempts at dwarven accents?
Sometimes.
>4) Do the Imms ever laugh at players getting butt-stomped?
Often.
>7) How many Imms play multiple Imms?
I don't, but I won't speak for anyone else.
>8) Is Market Square the most heavily trafficked PK spot?
I'm guessing no, but someone else would need to confirm.
>9) With the new (kinda new) "pagan" religions, will a player >following a dead religion (Holtzendorff, Zulgh, etc) ever get >a response, or would this be a no-no?
You can try. I had a character in 2009 or so that was a Vassagon follower.
>10) Will you ever consider tinkerers as a class?
As far as I know, they are not being considered.
>12) Is mud-sexxing in Market Square a bad idea? Other than >getting PKed, that is?
See response to #3 and #4.
>13) Since Arkham isn't original, do I have a chance of getting >empowered by Cthulhu?
No.
>Thanks for any responses. I'm sure I'm not the only one who >needs these answered. >
Sorry I could not answer all of them.

>1) How do you pronounce Whiysdan? Dunno.
>2) Is Umiron pronounced Uh-miron, Ooo-miron, or You-miron? I really didn't consider this when I chose it. oÍžom-ur-on, maybe?
>3) Do the Imms ever laugh on private channels at the poor >attempts at dwarven accents? Yes. P.S., don't send us notes in accent.
>4) Do the Imms ever laugh at players getting butt-stomped? Yes.
>5) Will Daevryn ever answer one of my characters' prayers? Dunno.
>6) Speaking of Daevryn, is it Day-vryn, Dah-vryn, or >Die-vryn? I believe it's Day-vryn, but I'm not an authority on the subject.
>7) How many Imms play multiple Imms? Multiple.
>8) Is Market Square the most heavily trafficked PK spot? I can't find that out.
>9) With the new (kinda new) "pagan" religions, will a player >following a dead religion (Holtzendorff, Zulgh, etc) ever get >a response, or would this be a no-no? We tend to not like doing that.
>10) Will you ever consider tinkerers as a class? I didn't check with the crew, but no.
>11) Will Matrik ever get his halflings? Please say no. Probably not.
>12) Is mud-sexxing in Market Square a bad idea? Other than >getting PKed, that is? Yes.
>13) Since Arkham isn't original, do I have a chance of getting >empowered by Cthulhu? Probably not, but if you did, Scarabaeus would probably be your guy.
> >Thanks for any responses. You're welcome.
> I'm sure I'm not the only one who >needs these answered.
I don't know about that.

I think you meant "Yes, that is priority #1"
