56688, Suggestion for Battle Wanna-Bes
Posted by Moligant on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
This may already be implemented but not advertsied but if not.....

What about being able to speak to Tahhren if you kill ANY Scion/Nexun along with mages? Increasing your opportunities to be an applicant?

Maybe its just my own perception but there just aren't that many mages at low to mid ranks anymore. My whole range is thieves, assassins, and warriors. But some of those melee classes might be scions or nexuns.

Either that or make the invisibilty spell a higher ranked spell. There are plenty of invis potions in the meantime.

You'll probably want to check their ranking spots and know them inside out so you can rush them when they are visible. But also, be prepared to eat a few deaths trying to nail that Mage before his group mates finish you off.

Don't forget, someone can be lvl 1 one day and lvl 15 the same or next day. The point being magi can come along from nowhere. Maybe use the time to hone skills?
56719, waiting for a mage is the worst part

of CF. you're so dependent on some dude of a certain class to be around, visible, and unaware enough to die.

just isn't a fun hoop to jump through
56720, Waiting sucks period.

Many mages and melee classes can't get over the 38-45 hump without specifically tanky characters around, e.g. shifters they bitchranked, tanky waiiors/rangers, a Muter/bard/healer or some kind of invoker shield exploit.

At some point I get tired of having to put three mazes between me and my enemies, or fighting hasted mobs or trying to blindly run past aggro mobs to slowly claw my way to a critical post-40 level.

So I don't feel sorry for applicants having no one to kill to get in their cabal. Play something else or be glad you don't have a big blinking "Loot My Ass Cause I Don't Have Flight" sign around your neck.
56722, Leveling is one of the easiest things to do in CF
Posted by Moligant on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Seriously, does anyone here not remember when there were no caps on experience loss when you died to multiple mobs? 100k exo holes?

Hello?!?

Leveling now is a breeze compared to that and mages of most classes have solo leveling options that are slower but not impossible when you combine quests, observation, etc. to get you by until you get a group.

Finding a low level mage stupid enough to get themselves killed by someone who cannot see invisible on the other hand is a constant hurdle you cannot avoid unlike leveling where you have tons of options to gain experience.

The suggestion is not even a major change. Its taking two cabals which advance magic as one of their main themes and classifying any member of it as mage enough to be considered enough for Tahren to give you the nod. Thats not gamebreaking and is actually pretty niche but slightly better than right now.

56724, If it's as bad as you say

Then you could probably manage immduction.

However, people have different definitions of never and what constitutes a long time.

I don't really agree that it isn't a small change to be allowed to kill a non Mage than a Mage, although I understand your logic. Mechanically it is different though.
56727, To be fair, it encourages treachery to be the 1st step to becoming a battlerager

If "C invis" can stop you entirely, it's a bit ####

Don't involve an invis Mage. Because normally I surprise them when they are distracted by doing something, and that something means they aren't invis.
