56684, Permanent increase to experience and learning bonus

I'm not sure what the arguments against this are. These are both arbitrary-length time sinks. Why not make them 15% shorter?

I assume there are good reasons for this since it hasn't been done. What are they?

I think it would be cool if your groupmates taught you skills boosts based on your charisma if they know that skill. Like x likes you and teaches you a thing or two about trip.

Or when you discuss with your guild master he gives you a few tips based on how many tougher mobs you just killed.
56709, Best idea so far

Some of the other ideas just feel way to artificial.

However, having group mates point out how to do skills better is a good idea.

The chance of it happening could be based on their percent in the same skill, how many of your class they've killed, their int, and your int (since you may be too dumb to understand their explanation).

I'm with Daev. Leveling in CF is easy. In terms of learning skills I do believe we should have more ways to learn skills than by spamming them. Like say instead of a learning bonus incorporated into the game you create special 'training mobs' who you can use skills on and they don't attack you, etc. outside of trying to train you in a skill and the 'learning bonus' would be attached to using whatever skill it is on that mob.

So for example if you find a thief training mob and they have a bunch of sacks of pebbles to steal you get accelerated learning in steal from that mob.

This would make it somewhat dangerous but beneficial to find and use these mobs because they could be located anywhere and people would naturally check these places as part of their hunting regimen. So good for learning rates but bad in terms of personal safety which is a typical tradeoff in CF.

Also as an added benefit and to make this less spammy, perhaps make it so using these training mobs gives you experience after you increase your skills a certain amount.

So lets say you have steal at 75% you then go to Silky the thief training mob and practice steal on Silky and get the accelrated learning bonus and get steal to 80%. At 80% Silky says 'Well done! You are improving nicely!' and you then get 2000 experience points from Silky like when you complete one of those quests that give experience and learning only in reverse.

I get this when I feel like I'm too high a level for where my skills are at. If my skills went up 15% faster it wouldn't be an issue that I was gaining 15% more exp.

I'm never had much of a problem with being unable to levelsit properly with all the commerce exp I get from madly spamming heal refresh.
56695, Same. :(

What if we could freeze xp in some fashion, or in some limited way?

Maybe have distention kick in quicker if you xp freeze?

Maybe that's too powergamey.

A man can dream though, a man can dream.
56698, You can very effectively reduce your exp gains

By soloing with a mercenary

villagers likely need the %'s more than other cabals.
56721, Why can't villagers use mercs for ranking?
Posted by KaguMaru on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Will have to check if you can barter for them. Probably poor RP for outlander to have humanoid mercs, but they could 'liberate' animal companions from pet shops.
