56143, Taking a break until thief poisons can be cured using "CURE POISON"..
Posted by Helfinu on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I mean it is CURE MOTHER ####ING POISON! How can it cure magical and divine poisons easily but a concocted mind/fear poison is not curable?
Drops mic
ALSO: Guardians of the Galaxy was hilarious.

Particularly if the point of the thread is to campaign for an upgrade to said character.
Play a poisoner thief sometime. See if you still think everyone should be able to cure the majority of your major class abilities with a single, low-level ability that is also on town healers.

I understand how making cure poison able to cure poisoner thieves poison is a bit overpowered, especially considering all of the various means of curing poison (Pills, potions, healers, etc.)
Maybe as a compromise though, for characters that do have the cure poison supplication, spell, etc., allow a high cost edge that will cure a thieves poisons, but it only works on that character. Or maybe a medium cost edge to cure one type of poison. IE: You can learn to cure fear poison along with standard poisons, but a poisoner thief will still have a variety of other poisons it can affect you with. So if you are having that much difficulty with a poisoner thief, those that can cure poison naturally will have an option if they wish to take it of getting rid of the poison.

Not a lot of point to playing poisoner if quaff return; heal poison was guaranteed to fix everything they can do.
|
56147, Speaking of which.
Posted by Scrimbul on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
You can't poison a return potion with drink poison.
You CAN poison it with contact poison, but it doesn't actually accomplish anything.
Since you fixed them poisoning ghosts, can you at least let contact poison ruin potions?
There are a lot of veteran players that won't die without exhorbitant effort except by emetically poisoning their return/teleport potion and forcing them to use it. Chiefly people using spammable dam redux or some type of slow.

56148, By that logic.

Why bother with diseases if you can just quaff return; cure disease them?
Why Both with blinding someone if the can just quaff return; heal it?
Why bother with any malediction because they can "quaff return; wait out timers?
Why bother with attacking someone if they can just quaff return and heal?
Why bother playing a shaman because it can all be cured (except damnation) at a healer?
Why bother playing a Necromancer because it can all be cured at a healer?
Why bother to bother?

56149, Poisons cost gold and prep time.

Return potions are a small investment relative to this. All other ones of those are "free."

56150, I don't think that is what he was getting at.

But perhaps it falls on deaf ears. They see is one way and we all see it another way.

I hate when someone tries to speak for "everyone".
Basically what you are asking is to be able to negate everything one specialized class can do with ONE CHEAP SPELL.
Noone would roll a poisoner thief anymore.

56153, I was agreeing with Artifical there.

Perhaps I should have said Helfinu sees it one way... to make the THEY more clear.

That's not logic, and if you actually think about your question for five minutes you'll understand why.

Frustrations amplify annoyances. I'll deal with it.

56144, Play a mundugunu orc instead of shaman....
Posted by Vonzamir on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
pretty sure Gravenap will take care of it. Also, outlanders have something that I suspect might help with it, although keeping it on hand could be a bit problematic.
