Is this Cabal dismantled or is this part of an ongoing quest chain?

There's info on the MOTD, I think the rest is for finding out IC.

The MOTD is about as cryptic as it gets and I don't have the time to play the game to find out IC. It would be greatly appreciated if you could please respond with a 'There is still ongoing discussion behind the scenes as to the fate of Scion' or a 'We decided to disband the Scion Cabal for the foreseeable future.' This way, if I do find some time to roll up a character, I can be knowledgeable as to whether to try and play a role geared towards this particular branch of evil mage Cabal dogma or something else.
Unfortunately, I don't have a circle of friends with active characters I can IM and ask so my information is left to random echos combed from QHCF logs.

Because heaven forbid you roll up a lowbie and check the leaders command to see if there is still a Scion cabal and who's running it...
As of 5 minutes ago:
> leader The Mortal Leaders of Thera
Commander of Battle : Erighan Drillmaster of Battle : Crraya
Emperor : Niji Imperial War Master : Jarlduz Imperial Dread Lord : Tralgdar Imperial High Priest : Atazerus Imperial Shadow Lord : ---
Marshall of the Fortress : Resdrenn Captain of the Brigade : Lerknys Elder Prophet of the Light : Andira Cardinal of the Golden Sun : Amatrysti
Chieftain of the Grinning Skulls: Bolg
High Herald of the Eternal Star : ---
Meter of Mind : Guargoux Rhyme of Resistance : Turmi
Sunwarden of Thar-Eris : --- Harbinger of Thar-Eris : Foedett Nightreaver of Thar-Eris : Azzael
Chancellor of Eternal Night : Anilsanatne Advisor to the Chancellor : ---
Provost Magistrate : Ruakao Provincial Magistrate : Eletar Provincial Magistrate : Elasia Provincial Magistrate : Rylium
Voice of the Scarab : Quarissa Thieves Guild Godfather of Voralian City : Kerngar Kingpin of Galadon : Drem Spymaster of Blackclaw : --- Bandit King of Hamsah Mu'tazz : --- Enforcer of Dagdan : ---
The cabal is currently still there. If you want to know more, then roll one up and join the cabal. If you don't have time to play the game to find out what's going on with Scion (as you claim), then frankly why do you care what's going on with them?

Thanks for the leaders snippet. Seeing a mortal leader on is reassuring. I appreciate that tidbit.
The reason I care what's going on with Scion is because I've played 90% of my characters in either Scion or Empire over the last 15 years I've played on and off. For much the same reason that I still read the forums (as do most people that still care about the game), I like knowing what's happening in the game.
Coming across the echoes about Scion led me to believe that the Cabal was removed, yet I saw nothing mentioned about it anywhere outside the game, hence my initial post asking for a status update.
Despite your otherwise critical assessment of my request, you gave me the update, so thank you.

Then why stress over it?
A frequent request on these forums is that we run quests. Part of doing that is playing it out IC. Otherwise, we'd just write a static story and post it on the forums, skipping the whole interactive part.

55853, FWIW....

I think one of the things that IMMs have failed miserably at (for the most point) is making quest stuff public to everyone after everything goes down.
I don't understand why the event board became a graveyard (lack of interest or time?) when for a while it would be a great place to check if you missed a month of CF and wanted to know what was going on.
Would it be too much to ask for someone on the IMMstaff to kinda just have a general outline of what questy stuff happened? Like, I don't have any clue who ended the Empire cabal. I don't remember who ended the Sylvan cabal (and I was about to start playing!).
####, I barely remember what was going down with my own quest (and honestly, would love to talk to Thror one day to figure out what he had in mind for me and overall).

That's a good word to describe players who take any opportunity they can to jab at the imm staff, Cf, players who don't play for the same reasons you do. Carrionfields has consumed so many of our hours. Can't we just admit that we like it?

Your usual sunny disposition aside:
I'm happy to encourage people to use the Event Board after an event has wrapped up. I'm somewhat less fond of it being used during an event, except in terms of things that "everyone" would know.
The current quests are not well-known IC, however, so the staff went with a vague mention.

If you want to encourage actions that may draw back players push to have one or more "Skeeta Twitterlark" or "Poison Pen" types post more often.

55858, Yah, exactly.

What's going to draw people into CF?
a) a quest involving 2 or 3 people in game that potentially has big impacts but is kept totally underwraps or b) a quest involving 2 or 3 people + a broader audience that knows some play by play of what happened recently within the day/week
Things that I know nothing about cannot draw me into CF. But if I see something happening via the forums, I'm now very interested and prone to at least be an active watcher.
CF is a social game and it seems the immortals either don't understand that or can't be bothered. Which is a bummer because you guys, and the playerbase, can and do awesome things.

Yup,
Now they are drawn back to check it out... but how do you keep them?
Well, the cabal structure has to be made so that it can function appropriately with minimum or maximum player counts. Minimize a few of the overlapping interests into a few diametrically opposed Cabals. Flavor it with spices of random religions and extremists (scarab/maran). If the 4-6 cabals are aligned strictly against each other but allow a mixture of varying outliers that can influence the goal of the cabal slightly in one direction or another you will have the goal reliably stay the same but the path to get to said goal shift one way or another.
Bah, whatever, I am basically writing this for no reason.

55862, Well, about that...
Posted by TMNS on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Sometimes players don't have all the tools.
Like, for instance, I "DID" have most of the logs of the questiness with Thror and village, but my computer assploded. So now, were I to try and conjure something up about that time it would be less than complete (as in, I don't have Flaayin's perspective, I don't have various other character perspective's, etc).
As I said (rather un-eloquently) it would be nice if after a quest was completed/died off, as an IMMstaff, you guys made a post like Skeeta Twitterlark/Poison Pen type thing that summarized the main points.
It would also help make role/character creation more unique. I feel relatively torn on using former quest antics in role/character creation and stick with just area/history stuff. But if I could know, for example, which group helped create the area linking South Dairein to Sea of Despair, if I know which ragers helped fight against the creation of the Veil/Nexus, etc (and I used all examples that are well-known to most people that played during that time period just for relevance's sake) it would allow much more dynamic role/character creation.
As it is, you only notice that stuff (most of the time) in PBF's (which is also a way to spot players for more detective-minded forum trolls).
Basically, I miss 2007-09 :)

Unfortunately, and I imagine a lot of players may not realize this, but a lot of these more epic quests are actually run by a single individual (obviously not always the same one) and the rest of us are going by what we catch in the equivalent of hallway conversations or a high-level (private) forum post. You could accuse us of not always planning or organizing these things to perfection and I suppose you wouldn't be wrong.
I can't promise that if an Immortal who isn't me runs a quest they will do a postmortem, but I will say that the feedback in this thread has been read and we will try to do something productive with it.
In the mean time, I hear things are about to get wild and crazy over at Herald. Check it out.

Please see my response above to Falstaff, as it answers your question.
I didn't know it was a quest, but do now, and is all that I was looking for information on.
Thanks.
