55651, Imperial Coups - how do they work?
Posted by TJHuron on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
How exactly do these things go down?
Isn't the vote for Emperor set up by the Empire imms? Mechanically do you have to get an imms blessing to do this? Is a vote required?
How do they succeed or fail? I assume if the Emperor catches wind he just anaths everyone before anything can happen. Are there other ways?

I suppose I'll field this one as the current 'Empire Imm'. The vote is called by me so mechanically speaking, yes I pull the trigger to start the vote. As far as my 'blessings' go, its kind of irrelevant what I want since the decision to make a vote is handled by the Council. I imagine you can figure out how exactly the decision to make one amongst the 4 person council would occur.
The success or failure of a vote is based on the way that the council votes. If I remember correctly, the council is unable to be demoted/anathemaed during the duration of the Vote. Assuming that someone screws up and gets wind of the notion of a coup to the Emperor before the vote begins, then yes the Emperor can freely anathema any or all of them as he sees fit.

Thanks for the answer. I'm not playing an imperial. I was just really curious what happened to the council as Ishuntal when Qintaris got that title and Nizrilli and Althamael got bombed to oaths. I tried asking in game but no one would tell me.
I see now it was a failed coup. So with that a few more questions if you don't mind.
How many on the council does it take to call a vote with a sitting Emperor? Just one or does there need to be a consensus?
Does the Emperor get a vote?
Would a failed coup be anything that is not a majority to oust the Emperor?
It seems likely but I'll ask: the emperor gets to know how everyone voted?
