55591, I'm going to give something a shot
Posted by Destuvius on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
** Disclaimer **
I am by no way promising that anything will actually go live from this "Suggestion Box" test run I am going to make. I would however like to give this a shot and see what happens.

Overall, I felt like the responses received on the "How to make Empire more fun" thread were really good and well thought out. For that very reason I am going to give a test run to something that is kind of similar.

Feel free to shoot me an email (destuvius@carrionfields.com) with ONE change that you think would be beneficial to making CF more fun. And when I say one change, I don't mean things like "Give me a quest form!" or "Bring back (insert old IMM name here)."

I will end up doing the majority of the responding to people via email. I am not sure how long I will be accepting "suggestions" in this manner, but I will probably try to at least every few days post what I think is the best/most realistic suggestion onto this thread for some feedback from the masses in order to try and fine tune it. At that point, I will attempt to poke up the ladder and see if I can convince the rest of team IMM that its a viable idea.

IF this test run works, I might try to turn this into a semi-regular thing. So please, don't spam my email with all sorts of stupid stuff.

PS: Go back up and read the disclaimer one more time. I am NOT telling you I am going to make any of these ideas come true. I am however going to try to find a few gems with your guys help and see what happens.

I am pretty happy with how this turned out. And will probably be doing something similar to this again in the future. I have pulled two suggestions that I will take further up the ladder for discussion and we might have something occur from it.

1) Perks for new players that scale away as they level, like an extra carry slot or reduced cost of food etc

2) Expansion of group range to accommodate a lower player base

Both of these ideas are pretty straight forward so I don't really think having an open discussion to flesh them out is necessary. Thanks again for all the suggestions.

Increase the learning percentage for groups (not just the exp percentage). It might help encourage lowbies to work together more vs hiding for 10 hours perfecting skills and spells.
55649, Just to add to this

I get asked to group a lot and I'd really like to.

If I do though, I know I've got no chance of improving certain skills significantly (ie the skills where you rely on level gains). So instead I spam all the other skills up, and that means not grouping.

If I could have a significant skill learn boost from grouping instead of exp boost I would be in the group, with more rp etc for all. The boost would need to be significant as even with no exp boost, mobs would die a lot faster.
55650, Severely reduce/remove RNG on skill learn.

I can understand if you don't want every player dumping their skill learn into evade, but it's questionably useful if you personally are annoyed by having to use dirt kick when you are trying to practice bash and trip.

CF relies too much on implementing RNG and luck as a barrier to people becoming competitive and this is one example where it's just plain unnecessary.
55639, 10 halflings or less.

But no more than 10.
55622, Ugh, bouncing email is the suck.
Posted by Destuvius on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Has anyone else run into this problem with trying to email suggestions?
55623, Yes.
Posted by Tsunami on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I sent about 5000 emails suggesting various things about halflings. About.

See Dragon Lance.
55620, Tried emailing you and got a delivery failed message...

Anyway, here's my idea: Duergar Assassins! It kinda fits their temperment anyway (aka foul and full of dirty tricks), and I can't see a reason that you can't be one. As the class and race already exist, it can't be hard to implement either.

*shrug* Just my $0.02

55621, This could be done now.

Don't forget that a while back the IMMs began allowing these type of builds with the proper role. Many unique combinations have been approved, like Dwarf Bard/Invoker and Gnome Shaman. Good luck and have fun.
55629, Their kicks should suck though

So far I have received 5 emails with suggestions, I am kind of surprised there were not more up to this point. I will be accepting the suggestions for the rest of this week because I had forgotten that I am running the RC this month.

If there are any questions or anything about this all so far, feel free to either post here and ask or send them in email.
55630, I'd send over some if I wasn't swamped with work.

My wife just got surgery (she's fine) - so I'm kinda busy with that plus some major things at work. I'll hit you up for round 2 in the future.
