The helpfile doesn't mention anything, but shouldn't haggle affect bartering?

Well, it's kinda a mute point. Considering the Imms check the value first, to see if you have enough, then haggle (so RNG won't give someone cheap stuff with enough work). Either your item is valuable enough, and you barter it item for item...and get no change, no matter what. Or it's not, and there's no trade. There's no real middle ground for haggle to kick in with.

You need to go to more Used Car lots ;)
With enough haggling, yes with a limit, the value of your item should go up in consideration. I mean, how can you turn down this slightly used wooden spoon?

Let's say I try to barter-haggle.
I manage to convince the guy my item is worth 5k, but it has to be worth 6k for him to accept the barter, so he declines.
I spam barter repeatedly, until eventually I get a value of 6k and succeed.
In real life, you could not do this, because the merchant would get annoyed and tell you to piss off.
