I have a familiar that can kill people on its own and has. Never got the killing blow echo though. Do those kills count?

Daevryn will correct me if I am wrong...
Any of your pet's kills count in your stats (servitors (conjies), zombies (necros), mercenaries (any), etc.)

Your servitors (and familiar) = your kills.

Yes, servitors as well...
If you will check PBF's...you will see its as PK wins by conjurers...hellfire, for example...
