I'm not sure if this is intentional or overlooked when you guys made the change to saving throws, but I noticed defensive shifters only get saves against spells and paralysis. Mental and Breath always stay unprotected. Any chance at least the defensive shifters get some love with those too?

I haven't been on to check breath, but mental saves work primarily off attributes. If you've played a bard, you've probably noticed that shifter forms tend to be dumb as rocks. Given that the standard queue of forms are all animal forms, it's hard to imagine that any of them are particularly great vs. mental attacks anyway.

A small comment to this... As shifters go... several forms are actually smarter and more cunning than a few races in thera. And avoiding breath attacks animals that are adapt at being in the wilds should actually have an advantage... as dragons should be even more familiar to their instincts.

I agree. Many of the birds, bears, badgers seem to be relatively intelligent, and had stats that would beat out duergar, giants, and felar in the smarts department. Note to said races: How's that for a blow to your pride? Birdbrain might actually be a compliment among your races :P

I agree, many are smarter but have zilch resistance. You would also think that these forms are magical in nature, so that at least defensive ones would have more then normal animal resistances to things like mental attacks and dragon breath.

It takes a certain level of intelligence to obtain sentient status. You really don't think a clever mongoose is smarter than a dumb fire giant do you? Stats or no stats, they are still animals.. smart animals albeit but animals just the same.
My two cents..

They aren't animals though, they are wizards changed into magical animals. To be honest I think they should keep the int and wis of the wizard.

Considering some of the fire giants I've met? Yes. Hey, think dolphins here, people.
