51943, Unique request suggestion
Posted by CD on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Have you ever considered enabling the request command to extend to players? With the option to refrain by the one having a request placed upon them?
It would tie into the reputation function. Someone who constantly requests equipment but is not so selfless and forthcoming with requests on them would have a lower reputation that might even cause them to be denied the right to request from mobs.
Too often people are request happy via mob to keep the best equipment and vocally aggressive or snotty when asked to barter items that they wear themselves.
Just a thought.

51950, They already do this I thought...

I've lost the ability to request as a non-ghost twice due to being turned diet good due to questionable goodie actions (stealing amathylar from elf mob at level 20, requesting Drizz't sword and giving it to a lowbie sword spec).
Isn't this something already policed? The gear just isn't there because of the low player number and the gear limit being determined by player count. Silly code.

51953, No, those are abusing request. Not the one I want based off reputation

ie. how you act towards such acts in return for the ability to ask.

When there's 40 people in the Fort, good luck getting any good aligned gear.
We need an evil Baerinika to draw some more evils. (And by that I mean, easily accessible evil patron actively involved in the cabals). Does Empire have any imms right now at all?

51946, my idea

Promotes more circulation by proper roleplay with the option to opt out at the expense then that you, yourself, cannot request if your reputation builds that way. It can likely even lessen your haggle, beseech, and healing at the pit abilities in voralian.
Which in itself will deter people. Even people like me who just ignore people who request as I have no real answer other than Im kinda powergamey. Losing request is huge, though. So even I would be cautious to keep my reputation good and offer out things I may not *really* need alongside other things that would benefit someone else.

51947, I kinda like this idea....

...but, I see quite a few both RP problems (For marans mostly I think...) and other things that makes it complicated. I'm afraid I don't have time to delive deeper into it atm though, I'll see if I can get back here later tonight and explain myself a bit better. hehe

51944, Paladins

Any time I play a paladin I feel kind of obligated to act as if request worked on me. THat said, I think this is a recipe for resentment and unfun dynamics. I agree that goodies are way too possessive and materialistic, as a rule.
