50935, New flaw idea. Gaining experience much slower than others.

No bonuses of any sort and you just gain experience much less than others.

I'd take it. Gives more time for practicing.
50937, Honestly this an edge. People spend con to avoid leveling.

50938, How to make it a flaw...
Posted by Bajula on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Add 200 to your xp penalty. :) Eeeek! now it's a flaw yeah?
You level slower giving you time to work on skills BUT your pk
range is icky. 'Might' work for humans if you are good, but imagine
an elf pally. Still... I might take it anyway.
I'd damn sure take an edge that adds to xp for leveling but not pk
range. hehe.
50939, +200 exp penalty sounds like a great flaw

Nice
50941, For sure.

Make it stackable for extra beefiness.

Let me get that 1000 exp penalty.

Thumbs up Bajula

Now you can pk level 20 and level 51 guys at the same time.

First day you pick it "Hey this is gonna be cool."
A week later "WTF was I thinking?!?!?!"
:)
50950, I forgot we need to name it yeah?

Flaw -Everyone wants to beat you up.

50957, That's about how ancestral curse was for me. God that sucked. nt

What does that flaw actually do?

Randomly you'll get cursed.
The curse is just like any other, and can be cured via remove curse.
But you never know when it will hit you, it was pretty random when I had it.
51119, I'm convinced there is more to it than just that.

Admittedly I took a few rather nasty flaws to have at the same time, but I'm firmly convinced that unlucky + ancestral curse = useless character. I would go into fights that I should have utterly just destroyed people, and would instead get the floor wiped with me. It seemed like every save I ever tried to make was a fail, while all my foes made their saves and if something COULD go wrong, it did. I would be defending against multiple ragers at once, and the curse would kick in the instant someone hit me, and would never heal on the first try. Just a whole big mess from start to finish. Never ever again, unless I decide to make another "total punching bag, don't care if I die" character. I couldn't even manage to tough it out to hero, even though I was, I think in my high 40's. I never just delete a character like that either, but he was just frigging awful.

For what it's worth, Ancestral Curse is exactly what it appears... it strikes randomly and it has the penalties that show up via score/affects.

It does hit Battle significantly worse in some way (more often or bigger modifiers, I forget which) since the "you randomly can't recall" piece of it is pretty meaningless to them.
51188, This could be the issue...

I don't recall ever seeing any negative effects showing up from the curse kicking in, but if I uncursed and was recursed multiple times, and the effects remained, it could certainly explain why I would so horribly get tooled so often by people who I should have been utterly pasting.
51153, That's funny how different it was from what I expected
Posted by highbutterfly on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
It's hilarious what the imagination people bring to a fantasy text game does when they read help files.

I had come up with some expectation it meshed with the Scion cabal powers and meant that they could see around you at any time.

Thank you for clarifying!
51201, It wasn't THAT bad. NT
