49541, An idea I was just thinking about.

Entwine is a very powerful skill, when used in certain situations.
However there are some aspects of it that I find a bit strange.

If you are entwined, you can spam flee.
You have your legs wrapped up completely and locked on to someone else but you can keep trying to run away over and over with out falling or suffering any penalty.

Maybe there should be/could be an edge for entwine, that would cause people to have some sort of lag if they try to flee while entwined. Maybe it wouldn't be automatic, but random trip lag or something or flee attempts.

For one, it would completely negate the ability for improved flee (or last stand or whatever it is) to 100% = insta kill. While still keeping the improved flee spam tatic somewhat useful, aka getting 3-4 hits not 19 auto-unblockable-attacks.

It would also make the skill a little more useful in actual combat.

I wouldn't care if this change is made after Arratok is gone so if people somehow think I am posturing for a benefits myself. That is not my intention. I also am not complaining about the orc thing, because I understand that some skills should not be viable against some combos (though I do think not being able to use a skill in one situation is one thing, and having one skill = insta death is sort of a lil overboard)

Maybe its a crazy idea, or maybe it could be a cool edge or something. I just feel like Entwine is really a

FWIW, it's not by accident that entwining an orc is almost always a really, really bad idea.
49548, I understand that.

Yea I guess it's just I am thinking about people spamming flee waiting for the tick, but I suppose it's wishful thinking.

In my head I am picturing people's legs wrapped up like a bolo and them falling when they try to flee.

I don't know I think to much sometimes hahah.
49550, Entwine is just a leash

I picture it around the torso. Otherwise there would have to be a lot of skills blocked by entwine, like kicks, acrobatics, etc. In my imagination it's only a slight impediment (enough to mess with dodge) but it's mostly just like a dog on a leash.
49542, Entwine is fine, except for a long outstanding bug...

...that makes it difficult to rewield a flail/whip. (Your flail is entwined around your opponent...except I'm trying to wield a different flail).
49543, wield 2.flail ? nt

erm
49544, Its got to do with the pointers and the way the entwine code says its in use

I've found using two weapons with different names is the only way to solve it

Conditions to have the bug
Whipping tail of the manticor names whip tail whipping manticor
blackhandled whip names blackhandle whip

You entwine with the blackhandled whip - but the code denotes that the item named whip is in use and somehow gets pointed at the tail of the manticor.

Solution
Flail with no similiar names to whip
Use the item at the top of your inventory as your entwiner

This -seemed- to solve it the last time I played a whip spec
49545, Oh, I found a way around just like you said...

...most of the time I'd entwine with a whip and then wield a flail and it wouldn't be a problem.

The problem, as you said, was more with how it cycles from flail (1st), flail (2nd), flail (3rd). IE, if I entwined with a chain flail, then tried to wield a flail of bludgeoning afterwards, typing wield flail would just not ever work. Even wield 2.flail, wield 3.flail, wield 4.flail. However, wield bloody would have worked.

Only pisses you off when you're not prepared to rewield after an entwine :)
49547, That bug drives me nuts.

But I think its a complicated fix, because its been that way since weapon specs were coded.
