48810, Once upon a time
Posted by incognito on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
The path to the village was wilderness.
Result was wilderness types camping the path when really rp indicated higher priorities. So it got changed.
Should the same be considered for fortress? I defy anyone Who has played an outlander to name a more optimal Hunting ground. Also, the hunting is heavily biased in Favour of fort (with dwarves and paladins, not to mention the big fortress) Against empire in particular (black sect, disregard, world domination).
My paladins, and I've played a few, are nearly never attacked by outlander. I can only think of one ranger that's done it to me. All my evils have Been jumped by them repeatedly while retrieving from fort. I've even Retrieved from outlander by hitting the fort to stop them Camping the tree.
As an outlander, or uncaballed ranger, I too have Hit fleeing retrievers.
As someone that's just deleted a Druid, what's twist think?

...I'm pretty sure I killed way more people on Eastern and/or somewhere they went trying to get rid of spores/thorns than outside Fortress.
I might not be the best example because I made pretty extensive use of birdform to scout, whereas other Outlanders don't have that, so they generally kinda know that Empire/Scion are going to be going to Fort to retrieve at some point.
...however I KNOW I had way more battles with Fort people outside the Fortress than I did with Empire/Scion. I may not have killed as many, but that's largely due to the battleground favoring flee, north, whew safe when you're hunting a conjurer/paladin/dwarf Fortie.

This is more of an RP issue than a gameplay issue. Without getting into active and/or recently deleted chars, you don't get how completely dysfunctional Outlander politics have been for the last few months.

48812, Hmm...it doesn't ALWAYS play to fort advantage
Posted by Sarien on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
For whatever reason the current batch of outlanders is a bunch of fort-loving nancies. This could be because they are all wardens, I don't know. Anyways, this is not always the case. When I played Hakdu I killed several paladins right there, including Twist as Dupmassione. I also know that the prior harbinger Mreash killed my paladin there, and others. I think you might play more evil than not, and so only see the 'downside' to evil, and not the downside to fort..

48817, I don't understand your argument here.

Daurwyn says: Outlanders camp fortress grounds, mostly attacking evils in his experience and never getting attacked when he was a paladin in fort
You say: Outlanders camp fortress grounds, when you played a neutral cloud giant you killed a few Fort chars.
I don't know how your experience and argument disproves his.
Also, FWIW:
Wed Aug 5 21:17:09 2009 by 'Baerinika' at level 51 (167 hrs): I hate to tell you this, Hakdu, but every time you gang someone down with Loz a kitten dies.
Tony's at it again with a perma-buddy! I wonder if you replaced Crafted or he replaced you. It's a toss up IMHO.

I was saying to Daurwyn the following:
"I killed pallies/forties when I played a ranger in outlander, and I killed them in the redhorn mountains, so your view may be one sided, try looking at the other side"
Here is a list of the people I killed in the Redhorn mountains:
Jul 1, 2009 |Lv 26|The Redhorn Mountains|Volom vs 1: Hakdu (100%,KB) Jul 25, 2009|Lv 51|The Redhorn Mountains|Lokinitisim vs 1: Hakdu (100%,KB) Jul 26, 2009|Lv 51|The Redhorn Mountains|Traphe vs 3: Castiel (9%), Dargin (5%), Hakdu (84%, KB) Jul 30, 2009|Lv 51|The Redhorn Mountains|Dokren vs 3: Hakdu (38%,KB), Mreash (32%), Loz (29%) Jul 30, 2009|Lv 51|The Redhorn Mountains|Lokinitisim vs 4: Mreash (5%), Sulye (7%), Hakdu (12%), Loz (73%, KB) Jul 31, 2009|Lv 51|The Redhorn Mountains|Arrna vs 5: Nethos (4%), Woan (12%), Dakazhul (32%, KB), Hakdu (32%), Nado (18%) Jul 31, 2009|Lv 51|The Redhorn Mountains|Oethipius vs 1: Hakdu (100%,KB) Aug 5, 2009 |Lv 51|The Redhorn Mountains|Balten vs 2: Hakdu (60%,KB), Loz (39%) Aug 5, 2009 |Lv 51|The Redhorn Mountains|Castiel vs 2: Loz (33%), Hakdu (66%, KB) Aug 13, 2009|Lv 51|The Redhorn Mountains|Dupmasione vs 1: Hakdu (100%,KB)
And, as Hakdu I ganged a lotta people, with a lotta people. I don't know who Tony is, nor did I at the time. Loz was a Neutral outlander, so I grouped with him.
I tend to keep IC, in IC. For example, in light of your recent post regarding my past character Hakdu, I am pretty certain you are nothing more than a douchebag troll. However, my current character would probably group with you! :)

48867, I know
Posted by incognito on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
That it doesn't always play to fort advantage but it usually does. Why?
Fort are not inherently hostile to most outlanders as they share many enemies And don't clash on align so much.
Fort often has healing types meaning that retrievers are often in bad shape when they flee.
As mentioned elsewhere, fort has a better escape route.
Yes, I play evil more than good but I've played more outtie plus good than I have evil.
