48333, Improved Invis
Posted by Da Vokster on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I've been trying out my first invoker and am curious about how others see improved invis, particularly in light of the recent changes to exp penalties that I've been reading about.
It seems that humans can really utilize this spell (and already have a number of distinct advantages as magi), but races with higher exp penalties are going to find it much less useful since there are so few in pk range > than 5 ranks below you that won't be able to see improved invis (that's what it is, right?). In the past it would be useful against paladins, a-ps, and perhaps a few others with high class-based penalties if you're an elf/drow or arial, etc.
So lowbies can't see you, fine, but seems like it's pretty weak unless you are a human. Not that we need a bunch of elven invokers running around that no one can see, but at this point it's seeming like maybe it could use to be bumped down a rank or two in terms of rank differences to be able to see improved invis.

Being FULLY invisible, and falling back into invis without having to actively cast it again, even to a small number of people is absolutely ridiculous. You can scout without lowbie enemy cabal members reporting you, harass high xp penalty peeps, etc.
And not everyone high rank has detect invis up 24/7, though it becomes more likely.
Having done invokers (nothing special), I just really don't see any need to boost improved invis anymore, as it already rocks.

Which renders it impossible to redirect or initiate the attack until you re-up the spell.
