4743, Items that turn you evil.
Posted by Aiekooso on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I brought this up to Seobok, but not sure he'll get around to it with his limited time now. There is a certain item that when used a certain number of times turns you neutral or evil. There is nothing in the description of the item or in the name that implies that it would. This item also gives you no kind of echo that it is changing you. From an ic perspective it seems really lame that BAM you soul is all of the sudden turned. Perhaps you guys could add some echos or something to it.

4771, I just loved it when I was Lydian the paladin.

I got to the defiance sword, picked it up, BLAM! I'm dead. It blew up in my hands because the ring had changed me enough that the sword picked it up.

And it's not a "BAM" your soul is all of the sudden turned. It's a very slow gradual process.

I think it's more that you have no echos, no warning whatsoever, so as far as a player knows, you suddenly wake up one day, wear the thing, and are evil. Since you have no hints that you're being turned evil, it *appears* that you just suddenly are, even though that's not what's occuring. Though it's if there's echos or anything, you'll be able to see "Hey, this thing seems to be corrupting my soul or something. If I keep using it, it might corrupt it *ALOT* and I'll pass over whatever gray line is the different between good/neutral/evil"

4748, But it is if there's no warning.

If there's no echoes or warning whatsoever then it IS *WHAM* all of a sudden. It can be as slow and gradual a process as you like, but if there's no IC way to know it's happening, then to the character it is a sudden change.
