47281, I have got to ask
Posted by TJHuron on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
What is with people posting anonymously and instead of having (anonymous) behind their name it has (NOT bob)?
I noticed when Quixotic posted one time as Ragloghlin it did this before he deleted and admitted to being that character.
Is this some sort if forum software reverse psychology where anytime it says (NOT bob) you have to assume it is Bob? And if so why the hell is it like this? Why not just say Bob?

47283, It's a bug or feature, depending on your take.

If you edit a post, your anonymous posting is FUBAR.

When you post anonymously, you can choose a name to post as. So if my character Durka dies, I can post anonymously and it will show as Durka (anon). However, you can cheat the system to out people by making a forum account with that name. When you try to post with a name that has an account, it will show up as Gaplemo (NOT Durka). That is what someone did to Daevs last character Nagibah. He posted goodbyes, then after he did, someone registered an account as Nagibah, in turn outing the original poster behind the anon flag after the fact. It's messed up, but that's how it works.
The best way to avoid this is to never, ever post with your active characters name as Anonymous. Or ask a question that would out you either.

Yup.

Or you go create the account for your character and then never have to worry about that happening again.
