47074, Orc defenses. Please read.
Posted by Boatboatboat on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I bet 99% of orcs don't master all weapons for one.

Nor use aura, shield, stoneskin, desensitize. Two

Grapple/grappleoffhand mastery.
Spinebreaker mastery with trample.

One last thing. Cheap shot is for those who meelee defend poor
and pin for those who meelee defend good.

Orcs are overpowered, solo against ragers. Without fleeing.

Except rupen with wrathing swords. I needed to defile and I didnt.

People think Orcs are good against ragers because rager players tend to be bad.

47082, And because rager vulns are easy to exploit

I actually think decent pkers playing orcs go after villagers often because they are the one group orcs can go after with a high degree of success and kill sealing. There's always a DB risk and some such, but generally, well played orcs win fights against battleragers. As do most other people really since rager drawbacks are pretty exploitable in PK.

With the new popular enslave that does cutoff and legsweep, it's just sort of a joke for an orc to win a fight against a lone rager (especially a scout or defender), since unless the rager stops the orc from fleeing to heal (and don't use entwine to do it since that's a death sentence), the orc will inevitably wear them down and kill them unless they make it back to the village.

Throw in that orcs can just bash spam (and yeah, nobody is ever going to convince me that an orc v. villager is doing anything other than bash spam with an occassional fallback/spinebreaker/flee;drink skin) any villager via enlarge/reduce and that orcs have a ton of healing ability via bloody skins that they can farm and it is sort of laughable.

Of course, the orc has to get his timing down and know when to not just bash (but against battleragers- it's pretty much always), but otherwise, it's pretty easy to take down battleragers with an orc. It's the rest of the people that will give orcs more difficulty :)

What advantage does an orc have over an uncaballed warrior, vs ragers? Orcs have crap defenses, which is the standard answer to deathblow. They have hitpoints and savage feeding, but that seems lackluster.

If you don't know an orc can heal fast, sure, they might surprise you, but after that, an orc drinking allows you to just stroll away. It's apples to oranges to compare an orc with the gear and preps to even compete against a berserker warrior against a villager who doesn't have the sense to avoid being whittled down.
47084, Rager can't change size or otherwise negate bash.
Posted by Homard on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Grapple; bash; bash; bash works very well on Battle as they can't counter bash.

Sure, there's always the chance that they'll hit four OBLITs in one round, but that doesn't happen all that often.

Savage feeding + cheap shot + an enslave to tank for you and possibly help you lag a little makes bashbashbash pretty good. You don't get everyone everytime that way, but you can win a lot of fights that way.

I mean, it's also pretty good for a warrior who knows what they're doing who wants to kill Battle. That describes at least half of my deaths whenever I play Battle.
47087, FTW?
Posted by Stunna on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
So that accounts for like, what, 1.5 deaths?

Stop acting like you know what it's like to be PK'd, my friend. :)

Whenever I play Battle I get reminded of what it's like! :o
47091, You should fess up to your weaker characters.
Posted by Quixotic on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
In my book, it wouldn't end the mystique associated with your more powerful characters, but it would show you play mortals and not just an immortal in a mortal body.

Personally, I like to know when I kill a Twist character, even if it takes him being link dead at a healer for me to do it.
47092, That would be sorta neat.
Posted by Gaplemo on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Especially the ones that you put say, 50 or more hours into and you consider them utter failures and under the radar delete...it would be cool to see sometimes the failed experiments that just couldn't cut through butter to remind us that everyone sucks with some builds :)
47089, I hate bash as a rager :(
Posted by TMNS on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Thank god Thor had mercy on me and gave me brace. I would have condied in 250 hrs instead of 350 :)
47096, Here is what is good about orcs.
Posted by Voralian on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
My orc at hero will have about 1400 hp
divine svs
+11str
+7dex

Cursed Wrath Whip avg 33
Offhand.. depends

A good orc slave
Hoarded doesnt matter

Aura,shield,stone,grit/desensitize, protection good.

Bash,Savage feeding. Cheapshot or Pin

Pin is nice when you are fighting arials, elves, drow or felar and lag from cheapshot is less important that the nice DEVAsavage
OBLITpin.

Spinebreaker, tick, tick, trample, repeat repeat. Drops bash protection and aura on paladins. I've killed a few air shifters this way.

Crushingassault is pwn in the right situations. Staff specs, assassins, rangers.. abs mages(lash or headbutt towards the end of their hp)

I've slain some mean druids with headbutt and lash thrown in when they did not expect it.

Shig-ruh berserk reduces damage

A shig ruh gets a bunch of nasty riposte like damages in, can't be lagged bad. Damage reduce. BIG DAMAGE ROLL. BIG morale and LOW enemy morale.

Its like playing a hasted warrior against a slown opponent and you get to use two axes that riposte and bash them for DEVAS and cheapshot them. Throw in stun, mend wounds, and cranial awake.

I'll just roll one up next month.

Orc will own their opponent in almost any situation. Druid, Trani and Rager, sword, berserker are your worst foes. Paladins are not if you gear right, neither are invokers.
47077, Orcs aren't vuln wrath. nt

nt
47078, I think he was implying he should have gotten resist wrath...

From desecration, but I could be mistaken. The entire post is gibberish.
47075, I'm sorry, did you says Orcs were overpowered?
Posted by TMNS on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Forgive me if it takes a while to stop laughing.
47076, Last orc was bad ass.
Posted by Voralian on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Soloed Odrallag when we were both hero.
I used no preps, no skins, no healing. I fled once from wimpy
and went N and bashed him for dead.

Noremove whip living snakes and axe dissolution.

The only person I could not beat was a Fort Paladin,Invoker team.

I'd make another one if team fort doesn't decide to take half my gear for others to use after I give them a 2vs1 pk that takes them
half an hour without me leaving the area to kill me.

Actually, I drove them off twice.

Name? I've been...away. Would like to look up a PBF.
47095, He was denied.
Posted by Voralian on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I blew my top when paladin/invoker team killed me after I gave them some good fights without running to go hide. They took half my gear, which they did not need but wished to distribute to other goodies.
I'm past that these days however.
47097, I guess he wasn't. Either bognok or Tuk, but it was a hamsah gateguard that finished ohbheb off, not odrralag.

#35346, "My guess is he lost his shiny set. nt"
.
#35350, "Might have been something to do with the hordes of people"

Hunting him in a almost OOC manner as well..
As he could have easilly earned that set back.

Given lastname for consistent role play, rager killing, then killing a Scion while trying to get back in. Hehe.

Nice betrayal...an evil leading a good to their death at the Felar Chief...shame on good for trying to get that gear!
