46514, Twist and Daevryn: an AP discussion.

Given CF's current state of lower numbers, no hell, Fort being consistently strong and the existence of different edges to beef up non-Fire AP's - what looks like good choices for AP builds? Keep in mind I haven't played much since the obvious choice was to go Fire.

How might your answers change if you had to go Champion of Man?

I actually think just about every form of A-P is pretty playable, now. They just play to different styles or have different strengths.

If you haven't had a successful A-P in the past (I don't know if you have) I always really like human as a starter A-P because while it isn't great at anything it legitimately can do everything, so you aren't cutting yourself off from options you don't yet understand.
46520, Huh - another question then.

I was actually thinking human wouldn't be a bad way to go. Can you suggest some weapon choices, strategies and legacies?

I always tend to play in a very "balls out" kind of way. I know that's not usually conducive to AP play, and I would need to tone it down to successfully build a large unholy. However, is there a particular build that I should take (or should NOT take) given my usual play style?

Silly rabbit. A-Ps don't get legacies.

I'm always a fan of leveling slowly with anything you don't know how to play very well; this is doubly or triply true with an A-P because they have such a varied arsenal of offense and, for the most part, so little defense. Whip past the teens too fast and you might not really build an intuition for what kinds of fights lightning bolt spam will win.

The main trick I think, especially if you're human, is to change your tactics to suit your opponent. Some fights lag will win, others direct damage, others malediction, sometimes sleep, sometimes dirt or blind and disarm, other times summon traps or weapon skills or whatever.

A good goal might to be focus on getting controls vs. building a super-weapon. My first A-P died a lot and killed a lot and I refined from there.
46523, Whoops. I meant edges, not legacies.
