46006, An Unusual Request
Posted by Scarabaeus on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
If any former Immortals are out there reading this AND you happen to have copies of area docs from the early ages, I would be most grateful if you could send them to me in an e-mail. (scarabaeus AT cf)

2004 is the oldest I can find, although there might be some on my old cf email, but I can't recall where to go to log in (what is the webmail address?)

I will also check with Kasty when he gets up - sometimes he is a packrat and sometimes he is not.

I checked with Zulghinlour and, regrettably, those accounts are gone. Here's hoping Kasty is a good candidate for A&E's Hoarders...

I've got 2003 on my computer now. It's possible I have as old as 1997, but they would be burned on a CD back home, and I wont be there to check until August-ish. I tried to email the ones I do have to you, but it bounced back saying your inbox is full, so fortunately I was able to figure out what password would log me into an account here. :)

Are you talking about the changes when it was switched from a whole bunch of cryptic numbers in a row, to nicely-spelled out flags? I know I had those documents - the first time I immed in about 1997 I was writing that way. But then when I reimmed in 2000 it was already on the new style. I know that one for sure, since I have a few copies of my areas dated from 2000, and they all have spelled-out flags.

Anyway, let me know and I'll try resending the 2003 ones if you want them.

Yeah, the mail quota is ridiculously small and Treebeard's docs filled it up.

That's what I'm looking for. We're talking some old school resurrection here.

Well, if you don't find it before August then I'll check when I'm home. Hopefully they turn up before then though. :)

Edit: Also, wasn't it Cador who did all that coding to change it? Maybe if anyone is in touch with him still, he would have them laying around.
46025, Whoa. Best Imm. Aarn. Also, Wes Hinkley was a Paladin of Velkurah
Posted by Alston on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
He was killed in Iraq last year.

I think I saw that somewhere. Wasn't his character a paladin starting with an A? I wonder if I have some logs with him in it.
46030, Alarien (SP?) He was a Hero Imm as well.

Having only known him on the game I am still troubled by his death. I had been corresponding with him from time to time over the years and I was hoping to finally meet him and never heard back. I found out a year latter of his death.

All I can say is FTA.
46164, The name was spelled Alarian, not Alarien

Just to answer your question. The death thread:

I might have more burned to cd back home. Maybe even along with those docs Scarabaeus wanted! I'll check when I get home in August. The first is an edited snippet from a conversation we had. Not sure why I clipped out all the surroundings except for the speech:

You say 'And how wouldst thou encourage order then? Thou spoke of feeding the others.'

Alarian almost smiles.

Alarian says 'Yes...just feeding someone whom is hungry is such a simple, easy thing to do...it warms their heart and body, makes them feel less bitter and uncared for..'

Alarian says '....also, not having to worry about being killed, stolen from, not having to live in fear..'

Alarian says '...and the anger such helplessness created.'

Alarian says 'I wonder if a bowl of soup is a greater weapon against evil that all the lances and weapons The Fire has...'

Alarian almost smiles.

Alarian bows and falls silent.

And the second is a note I sent when he won a role contest!

Subject: Role Contest Results

Yes, the results are in. Prizes will be awarded to the top five
entries as I find them. Our Pannel of Judges came up with a simple
point system once the field had been narrowed down from the original
twenty seven. Thanks to all who entered, and to all of you that
spend time working on nice roles for us to read. Next to each of the
top five names is the number of points they received in our voting.

First place: Alarian, 14 votes
Second place: Odrirg, 12 votes
Third place: Nhiala, 7 votes
Fourth place tie: Nithek, 6 votes
Fourth place tie: Sinopa, 6 votes

Congratulations to Alarian and the other winners!

I am really nostalgic for the old Imms, Poetry, Shaz, Mayesha, Pico, Bria, Galadriel, Astien, and others from the Mid to late 90's. My best best Immortal Memories are from those days.

My first paladin was empowered by Turenthean. (Sp?)

The current Imms are great, but I for me Thera's true Pantheon is buried in the dust of ages.
46016, Luckily a lot of those are still active with CF. n/t

You would probably greatly appreciate this mini-project then.
46024, Honestly there is nothing I like better than this game...

As far as entertainment value.

I know I fire broadsides a lot, but there's a lot of good times here.
46007, Is it important enough for us to spread the word for those we still keep in contact with but don't have anything to do with CF anymore? n/t

It would be useful for the project I have in mind.
46013, I have them from 2001-2002ish. Is that old enough?
Posted by Treebeard on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Back when I was Gondrak.

It might be at the edge of what I need; I'm trying to think of when we completely revamped everything. Send it along and I can let you know.
46019, I was slightlyt mistaken - mine are circa 2005

Thanks for sending them though!
