45083, Sending tells to hidden shifter form - Abuse of game mechanics?
Posted by watershifter on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Now since I'm posting this, most likely the abuse will just increase for the time being. But this really sucks.

Water forms can hide in the water so that they are not visible on where. But, they're still visibile in the who list, which is fine. The problem with this though is that people send tells to different water forms just to see if it's safe to travel over the oceans.

And quite frankly, it is very annoying to get tells everytime I'm in my water form.

And it is basically impossible to find someone to fight on the oceans. Just being online seem to make some people avoid the oceans, which is fine, but then having them check to make sure if I'm in water somewhere or not just by sending a meaningless tell. I've started to put those people on ignore, but that's kinda limiting, considering RP etc.

I'd suggest that water majors when hidden in the water disapear from the who list. (Water shifters could sure need a bump, they're quite a bit weaker than I expected.)

Or, a change for all shifters. Make tells directed to the PLAYER NAME go through, and don't allow for example "lion" to be a keyword when sending tells.

The second suggestion solves a few problems:
Numerous shifters with the same form online, hard to make sure you send tells to the right one.
Solves my above problem.
Solves the problem of people sending tells just to find out what forms you have or if you are in the air, water etc etc.

If the form is hidden underwater as part of it's bonus, then it should act like all the other hiding classes. Only people with detect hidden should be able to speak to it. But if it's like camouflage since it's natural camouflage in the water, maybe only rangers or people with those types of eyes should be able to speak to it.

It seems sort of broken if the way to detect it is to just yell at it.

Maybe when you can't see a water form on where, you can't send them a tell either.

Seems like a good idea. Though as stated below. I would send a pray about it when it happens until there is a fix.

Thats a clear abuse of OOC mechanics. I would hope if you prayed about it when they did it, the immortals would come down on that sort of thing.

I think the best solution is a water form under water doesnt show up on who.
