What determines the number of hits it gets? Is it all just random?

One hit on whoever you are fighting (sometimes fails).
One hit on everyone aiming at you.
With edge you get one more hit on blind enemies.

44803, one to two hits on everyone hitting you and then as much as three with the edge, if they are blinded.

I worked really well for my fire giant Naboueh so number of hits may be strength dependant. Not seen anyone hjit as well as Nab did.
