42653, Heralds
Posted by NoobAgain on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
A lot of Christmas wishes come after Christmas and I'm afraid I'm in the same spot vis-a-vis Santa Zulg. Nonetheless, feeling fortunate this day, I would like to make a small wish.

Please give all Heralds an ability to post notes to all.

I think this is a harmless addition that is a quality of life improvement for the Heralds and Thera!

Thank you in advance for your consideration.
42684, I'd like to see heralds get some cooler abilities than just artistry!

Roleplay related. Like getting an approved prog that flashes (not damage or anything, maybe some + moral) that they can change like warcry. The assumption that they're going to use it for RP purposes, obviously, and since it wouldn't do anything PK related, it'd be awesome!

42689, Here's one they should have.

Reduce Power Gamer
syntax: call "reduce power gamer" <victim>

Calling upon centuries of corporate roleplay, the Herald that reduces the power game of another character. The effects are as many as they are subtle.

Gnomes shapeshifters have found that they lose the ability to flyto/murder, and their cousin the stout svirfneblin struggle to recall the complexities of pinching a mage. Indeed, some of these deep-gnomes forget how to invite a mage to a group before hand.

Additionally, ferocious Battleragers find their ability to communicate effectivly greatly enhanced with a sudden rush of insight into the use of the shift key, but villager beware, with such concise verbal accuity comes a price. You will no longer be able to use the excuse, "i didnt hear ye say ye had him" It is rumored even the Mighty Thror is affected, albeit to a smaller degree, by this power.

This power has no effect on intelligent opponents such as mobs or link-dead noobs.
42695, I probably shouldn't encourage you, but

I think typically the High Herald gets that ability already in general. I wouldn't want a lot of the Heralds I've interacted with to have an unpoliced note to all ability. I'm pretty sure if you wanted it with your specific character you could finnagle your way into it via RP.

However all bards get it and I've seen a TON more crappy bard stuff than crappy Herald stuff. There are four Heralds right now, I don't think they will create much spam. And if note spam is really a concern create a 100-300 hour (or more) timer on it.

You've seen a TON more crappy bard stuff because Heralds don't have the note to all ability. There might be four Heralds right now, but I've seen it when the cabal is full of the epitome of horrible bard notes x 8 in physical (text) form. What you are asking for would shake the very foundations of Thera itself and bring about the dawn of a new age of terror and hello kitty smileys.

Tremble mortals and despair...Doom has come to your world!

All that I am: anger, cruelty, vengeance - I bestow upon you, my chosen knight. I have granted you note to all so that you may herald in a new, dark age for the Inn.

Gaze now upon the lands before us. The Spire scurries to undo my work, while the Fortress stands defiantly against us - a blemish upon these lands. They must all be shown the price of their defiance.

You will become my force of retribution. Where you tread, doom will follow. Go now and claim your destiny, Herald.

Having played enough Heralds to know better, pretty much this.

It's not the 60% of Heralds that would actually be worth hearing from. It's the 40% that make you want to start cutting yourself with the mountain dew cans on your desk that would ruin Herald note to all. And you can't get rid of them. Where else would they go? The point of Herald is to sequester them in the Inn.
42658, Nah.

All you have to do to get note to all is be a bard.

At least you have to get inducted into Herald.
