42439, Maledictions

Str : 25(25+10) Int : 16(16+3) Wis : 15(15+3)
Dex : 18(18+13) Con : 23(23+2) Chr : 18(18)

These are my stats before a fight where the commander jumped on me now in the fight he impaled me and I had plenty of strength and dexterity to ride it out, or so I thought.

I basically stopped tanking in any way shape or form after the impale. At the same time my cabalmate hamstrung the Commander and it did nothing to his amazing defenses. Now if we both have enough +str and dex to make the malediction not effect us, why do I get crapped on as a shifter by one malediction?

Really need to understand this one so thank you for constructive replies.

Oh and on a more sour note, does anyone else feel the 'swiping paw' shifter disarm skill to be utter crud? It never works and I have 25 strength!!!

42444, This is not the answer you're looking for, but...

Any shifter (possibly with the exception of an A/B/S/s) Scion with a nice despoil is going to struggle with the current Commander of Battle. His build is just all about eating guys like you for breakfast.

That's kinda just the way that Rock/Paper/Commander works. Even a "run-of-the-mill" Commander of Battle is going to do well against the average shifter, but Akedeh's just going to eat your face every time.

Unless you're Scion or Nexus (with a nice bond) I wouldn't be overly surprised that he's beating you.

And I got swiping-paw disarmed just yesterday. Stupid shifters.
42450, Helpful though, thanks.

To know that I am not the only one does help but between Akedah and Naija it makes a character feel impotent.

Way too many variables that you aren't telling us. Was he thirsting? Were you accidently slowed? What form are you using? What weapons was he using? What was the veil condition?

Another thing to note: majority of the time Commander of battle is going to be a bigger badass then the most of the mud if you fight him while he has powers. He whoops my ass almost everytime I fight him and I can't do a thing about it except pray for rng love.

Keep in mind that as a shifter, you don't parry, so you're relying entirely on dodge. Offensive forms (I assume lion, with 25 str and swipe), don't generally dodge for ####, so thats a factor.

Keep a sharp eye on just how much -dex is coming out. Hamstring+boneshatter is a huge amount of -dex, so I wouldnt be surprised that +13 doesnt cut it.

I am not 100% but I don't think he was thirsting. I was ABS'd and stone skinned but was suffering from arcing lightning after having just sent Scree scuttling away. I was only impaled, the commander was the one hamstrung which was why I could not understand why he seemed unaffected, unless he was thirsted.

Just wondered why impale, when it does not cause any -dex due to + dex equipment etc, destroys your ability to tank. Wish I had logged it now but was furious and had to log out before I did something rash.

42451, It probably wasn't the impale that caused it then, but other variables regarding his build NT

nt
42452, the answer is his legacy choices

2 of them combine to enhance his ability to land multiple attacks and one helps his defenses. It is also highly likely that his gear could cover all or most of the dex loss from a hamstring.

My bet is that you are a shifter. If that is the case the build of the commander is pretty much the absolute worst case scenario for you to fight due to his legacy combo. Especially if your a shifter form that is generally light on dodge in the first place.
