42322, Adjustment to Punished Crimes?
Posted by wysekid on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
A thought to modify the wanted command further.. When someone normally breaks the law in a protected area they are wanted, however.. If one dies in their attack most Magistrates would consider that crime as punished and offer no warrant. Perhaps add an extension to it for these situations where the crime has been punished so they would not have to serve time as a criminal, but also show they have a criminal record for breaking the laws.
The proposal would be like wanting the person for a crime, then doing a "wanted <player> punished" to remove the flag, but doing this is different than simply putting down "no" as the black mark for being wanted on their record would remain. Sounds a little silly that someone could break the law, then die, yet still have a clean record.

42326, One major drawback

Necros and APs would be able to cast sleep at people as often as they want, until it works. Assassins can attempt assassinations as often as they want (especially since when it works, the guy may not be able to tell who did it).
If it fails, they get let off and can try again with no drawbacks. If it works, the guy will often be toast.
I think the wanted system is good as it is. If you've spent a lot of time wanted, it's not the insurmountable problem people think it is. Sometimes you even get more kills because enemies assume that you won't come into town.

42328, I think he means that the attacker is killed during his attempt.

That is, before the magistrate has time to slap the wanted flag for it.

That makes for a much better suggestion then.

Yup, thats the main reason for the suggestion. Suppose it could apply to other situations as well. Good to have the option there.
