I am curious about this. The scrolls I have found of this have never worked once out of eight or nine times. Is it intentional for it to be almost impossible to enchant something with these? Might want to take a look at the success rate.

I would assume just adds AC?

Or does it add other stuff like hit/dam?

Does that even help Gates out? If not, there's pretty much nothing it's really useful for then.

Even if it gave me like +5hp or mana per enchant, I'd actually see a MINOR reason to use enchant armor scrolls.

If it really only adds -ac that makes it even more useless that it fails every time.

The success rate involves the level of the spell vs. the level of the object; additionally, stats already on the armor ramp up the difficulty.

In practical terms, you don't have that much chance to succeed on something you'd actually want to enchant.

So what's the point? :P Just saying where you find those scrolls is not easy to get and to have them be basically useless seems silly.

To turn something you don't necessarily want into something you do. I don't know what the added stats to armor are, but I know for a weapon, it made one in particular nicer for me, such that I use it way more often.

Yeah I tried that it still blew it up. If I want to enchant charred bracers maybe.
