37535, Two skills that Orcs could really use.

I do not know if this has been stated before, but I think this would greatly improve Orcs.

In all the books I've read, Orcs have always been the waylayers, ambushers. They ambush the incoming caravan, then get slaughtered by the couragous Heros.

Orc skills are pretty fun and most are working fine. (I think a missed Spinebreaker should only be two rounds, but thats me) Orcs per the helpfile are cowardly and have dirty tactics which makes complete sense.

Giving Orcs two skills would make them really worthwhile, would increase their numbers, but not make them overpowered. Those two skills would be Hide/Sneak.

Orcs able to hide on roads would make them very close to how they are describe in many Fantasy books. Allow them to hide on roads, woods (like assassins), swamps, caves. Do not allow them to hide in Cities. Orcs are Tribal and hardly go in Cities, they stand out and would not know how to blend in the crowds and such. Do not allow them to see hidden either, no matter where they are.

I really think giving these skills to Orcs would greatly improve them without having to do a whole revamp like many others have mentioned. At the very least it could be on a trial run just to see how it works.

If for some reason it would not be balanced, some feed back would be great.

I personally think the village should have a additive race to boost its playerbase. Goblin thieves or ogres (maumlauk adapt only).

For spinebreaker, it would be simply better if they give you an echo for the spinebreaker edge to tell when its a 2round lag and when its a 3 round lag. Im not joking, not knowing that fact is a fcking game breaker in a fight.

Then you'll always know it's three rounds.

I'm just kidding. Santa Daevryn abides.
37541, I don't think that's a terrible idea but...

Hide, if it's like assassin hide, sure. But not sneak. Come on. They're giant size.
37542, Just hide, and on roads

I think its a fantastic idea. The orcish ambush, no sneak though. Sneak would be silly.
37567, I just don't see how Orcs and waiting patiently go together

It's just smash them on sight! They would only hide if they themselves are in danger of getting really hurt.

Current set up covers that fine. so I see no reason to change it.
37568, They already do have the Hide skill
Posted by Lokain on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
it's just limited to certain area types.
37571, You don't see how this could be overpowered?

Think thug-thief with better offense and more hitpoints.

You being crazy, man.
37572, Well in my original response

I said to give them hide like assassins in that they cannot flee and hide after fighting. I also said no sneak.

Also, when was the last time there was an OP orc? It seems like even the best orcs have a lot of problems. Would it be so terrible to see an orc with 200 pks?
37583, Think it'd be quite useless

What's the point of hiding on a road? The movement lag on roads is very small, and it's likely that the victim will just run past the orc. And I'm always against the setups where so much depends on your ping. Hope you don't consider asking for a waylay-like skill for orcs, do you?

Orcs have always had hide.

Did you read his post or just submit a generic knee-jerk "#### off" comment?
