As I understand it, Maran hunt evil, it's what they do. But do they ever NOT hunt evil?

Say like, when a maran comes and summons you out of the palace, an evil villager prophecy comes to trip you, and they kill you, and the maran leaves. Does the summoner really need to be a no RP Maran? Or the villager, a prophecy?
Seems like when you shed some light on it, they both just suck. However, it's a good idea not to get in their way.

The village likes to destroy magic, that's a given. And without a commander they are a bunch of stab happy layabouts that like to kill anything non-mage that moves. Anyone remember the last time you saw the title, MageSlayer?

Is CF going down hill with the quality of player and cabal directions?

I can't talk about the Maran - never had one myself. Then again, based on what I see/hear, it's empire hour 24/7 - if the Maran wants to strike the Empire instead of an evil Villager, it's in his rights. I don't understand what your gripe is - he sees two evils and kills one. Do you know if the Maran attacked the Villager afterwards?

Hell, if I was a Maran, I'd do precisely that - try to kill off the one who's part of the bigger group (maybe because of ooc reasons), who will, undoubtly, gank a crapload (saw that log on qhcf) - maybe because of his own volition or because he's part of the Empire, but regardless.

I haven't encountered many stab happy villagers. A few I fought, yea, but no one who's really stab happy. I imagine it's because the Empire has the head 24/7, but hell, what do I know. And if the Villager(s) actively hunt you...yea, I'd be behind them on that. Keep in mind that Zinsizin deleted because I made commander and didn't like my policy with the Empire - if that policy failed and the Empire took the head alot, I'd probably say kill all empire - they're pissing us off and interrupting our war on magic.

As for the Mageslayer title - The reason is because no one made it up there. During the 5 months I was commander, I was the only mageslayer (I think MAYBE one of the drillmasters got mageslayer, but I seem to recall being disappointed that I was the only mageslayer). As for the title itself, there's the commander, the drillmaster, and the mageslayer - you can't be any of the both. If you're a mageslayer, you can't be commander/drillmaster. I know Ohbehb was a mageslayer, but he'd have to reply and say whether anyone else had enough kills to be a mageslayer.

Downhill in the quality of player/cabal direction? Really? Talk about an attention hog. I guess that may lead to the question, do you RP? Or do you just have a 'role' and just log on with your buddies? I may be pointing fingers, but given the empire hour, it's esay to speculate that many/most of the empire players know each other. Sometimes I wonder if the imms even pay attention to these things - if you guys do, I apologize. I know you guys work on absolute proof, and that it's a pain in the ass to get absolute proof. Just do some random drug tests to see if there's a match once in a while.

Anyways, that's my 2 cents.

During Homard's tenure as Drillmaster of Battle there was a Mageslayer. It was Knacnar. (I was gonna count his mage kills, but the PBFs seem screwy this morning, maybe just for me).

I'd assume that after Knac, Ohbehb became the Mageslayer.

It seems that if the Commander or Drillmaster hold the most mage kills that they don't get the cool title tacked onto their name.

So, it seems that there's always a Mageslayer, you might just not be able to tell who it is.

The mageslayer is the non leader villager with the most mage kills. This is something that was done by Kastellyn and if he is not currently active that is the most likely reason you haven't seen one for a while.

It may very well be auto coded....

No regular cabal members ever had the title associated with their member information for the entire time I could check it.

but if you mean you can't find anyone who was mageslayer and not a leader... they do exist but more often then not since the rites are about being billy badass the person who is the mageslayer tends to also win the rites and become one of the leaders. Once they become the leader its the next person.


I garuntee you that mageslayer is not automated. It also comes with a special piece of gear that you have to pray to have replaced every time you lose it because it is also not automated.

1.) The village and empire are currently at war so yeah its kosher for them to kill an imperial.

2.) The village doesn't endorse parity. It endorses courage (in the sense of over the course of a chars life not just an individual fight). It just so happens to be that parity is the most common way in which people try to exhibit courage (and even the higher standard only applies to berserkers)

without more details its hard to make a judgement call on the shady factor of working with a summoner but its also worth noting that the village is anti-mage with a cation towards communers. this gray area leaves room for roles which are not communer haters as long as a villager isn't habitually seeking communes from a communer.

This prophecy also might be part of some grand scheme to rewrite some of the village dogma.

... The villager didn't. The village and the empire are at war I think. (They are 90% of the time or more) The village and the Marans are not (In terms of how the village looks at it.) thus the villager has 0 reasons to strike the Maran.

But the Maran has every reason to strike the villager IF the villager is evil.

I agree with Amberion here. my comments:

three parts here:

First if the maran can hit the villager, no doubt they should be taking a whack if they can. If not, I'd have some problems with that.

Second, I don't know much about village and parity, but isn't it kind of strange that a villager would some in and whack at someone with a summoner bringing them out? seems kind of out of character to what I've seen in the village.

Third, stuff happens all the time. role with it and move on.
