36218, invoker shields vs dispel magic/dispel

This could totally be observer error but it seems to me that invoker shields are harder to dispel then other magic of similar level. I know if I fire off a dispel spell or sup at a transmuter I am likely to strip about half of their magic but you throw it at a voker and you might be lucky to knock off one or two shields.

I think that this could be rebalanced either way if it is true (either make muter spells harder to dispel or voker spells easier) but I think it should be consistant.

If I'm not entirely mistaken, most hero invokers tend to have pretty sweet gear plus, bless, and any number of things that help them save against spells. They tend to have more in that regard than the typical non-invoker hero.

All of that adds up to making dispelling more difficult. I don't think it would be a good idea to make shields easier to dispel because, really, it would just make invokers be MORE reliant on a/b/s, whereas right now they are more likely to fight with some protections missing. Just food for thought.

In most cases it will be a little harder to get shields off an invoker, assuming you aren't one yourself.

By design, etc.

That seems very harsh given how easily 50% of my damage capability is nulled by an invoker shield. Add to that the fact that a conjurer does not get spellcraft to up the level of their dispel magic could it not possibly be made as an edge for a conjurer and maybe call it 'Master of Air/Fire/Water/Earth' and it gives them a greater chance of dispeling any magic associated with that element?

Just a thought
36278, I'd say a lot harder

And unless I'm mistaken, it was this way before affinity came along.

Not that I have an issue with it, but voker shields have always been hard to dispel as far as I can remember.

I think it is reasonable that a conjie should struggle to dispel a voker, personally.

To be fair, Invokers have to be able to dispel other Invokers shields easily. Voker v Voker fights are all dispel, and trying to get a spell out before they reshield (hopefully one that lags them, like buffet if they're flying).
36295, any chance we can get some of the rational?

I mean a muters buffs are as important to themselves as a vokers buffs are but one gets extra protection from having them removed that the other does not.

The affinity makes a little sense but as was pointed out they were harder to dispel before affinity and are also harder to dispel when on a player other then the invoker.

Personally I think that dispel and dispel magic are very threatening to a muter and really a bonus for an invoker because if you spend 5 spells trying to dispel them thats a lot of damage they can do in that time. For a muter if you haven't removed 80% of their key spells in 2 dispels it is bizarre.

They're built in different ways.

A (higher level) transmuter has great stealth, should get to pick almost all of their fights, and is very hard to pin down and kill unless you lag them out completely.

An invoker is much easier to see coming, much easier to pin down without lagging out entirely. Its kill-sealing ability is usually poor, but it's built to take on groups and, in the right circumstances, mess them up. It especially can't do the latter if it's too easy for dispel to clean it out.

Affinity plays into this. I had an arial voker with 4 paths, all 10 affinity, and being slept by a necro with several levels on me, they couldn't dispel a single shield despite trying dozens of times.
