Since the Main website actually has some useful content and whatnot now, can we change the link over on the wavy flag guy to go to it. I always come here first but end up having to type in the main page to view twitter and facebook stuff.

On a semi-related note. I hate both twitter and facebook with a burning fiery passion of pure hatred. I do like what you are doing there, but there are some discussions that happen on facebook that are only in that medium, and not having a facebook account (or the desire to have one) I'm annoyed I can't contribute (or even see all the discussion).

I don't really expect anyone to do anything about #2, but any link back to the main site would be appreciated from the forums.

I got the voting buttons back, and updated them so they all actually point to the right place. Also added our facebook/twitter buttons along with the donation button.

I don't like the idea of twitter and facebook at all. To me it just seems like one more OOC way for some people to find out what is going on in the game. I don't think we should be telling people who just died and who killed them. Or what is going on with other things like that. I am pretty sure my opinion doesn't matter though. I'm just glad someone else hates that #### too.

What is it exactly that you don't like about the Facebook page? I'm trying to understand so that I can attempt to make it better/more relevant. We are certainly not trying to take the game OOC at all, but I see it as yet another way for us to get the CF brand out there to the public and hopefully attract some more players. I see nothing wrong with having a venue that we can alert people to some fun things happening in game to where they hopefully say, "oh, I want to take part in that" and log on. I also like having a CF community feel that we all have ownership in and can share opinions/ideas. That is what the CF fanpage is supposed to be. I appreciate your thoughts/ideas to make it better.

As for the Twitter page, it's not my baby, so I can't comment on that. I will say that I really like it and also reiterate what other IMMs have said that there is a lag (of varying degrees) of things that go to the Twitter feed.

I just hate Facebook and Twitter. That's just a general statement based on principle and has nothing to do with CF. I actually really like what is being done with both the Twitter page, and the CF Facebook page. My "beef" was that there are discussions that happen on the Facebook page that don't happen elsewhere. Since I loathe Facebook refuse to create an account I can't participate, which sucks for me, but is really my own fault. I actually think FB is probably the right place for some sorts of discussions instead of the forums.

Again, I think what you guys are doing is awesome WRT both fb and twitter, but I personally have issues with those "services". It's good to get CF out there in different places and through new mediums. I support what you are doing, I just want Facebook and Twitter to be erased from the face of the earth.

i don't like facebook. It is nothing against the CF facebook. I haven't even seen it. I don't ever do the twitter stuff either. Overall I realize they are probably good, I just hate progress.

Is the reports on death, for a couple of reasons. Embarrassment, I get killed by some ridiculous things. Stealth*, I frequent the same area for a few days and sometimes get killed multipul times. And pride, I don't want my IC friends going after someone who killed me when I would never admit to them that I got killed by whoever. Dumb reasons, but when I checked out the twitter page, that's what came to mind.

* it was mentioned somewhere that people can locate corpses, but that information isn't heavily traded in game so the number of people who would know has grown considerably.

But as opposed to this dude, I actually think it's a kickass idea for CF to be involved with those avenues-- for folks who want to follow them.

Whatever you did to forums.carrionfields.com puts a ton of blank space between each post in a thread when viewing the messages in threaded mode.

How do you do this? It's obviously not how mine is set up...

Click "view messages in threaded mode".

Though I just looked at it in linear mode and it still has the big spaces. I'm using Firefox; maybe that's the problem.

I get the same odd extra spacing (and no side padding) in IE8 on Windows 7 as I do in Firefox/Ubuntu.

Check it out, if you get a chance. It's like programming on easy mode. Last major site I put together in about 20 hours, with Ajax, redundancy, etc. It's like permagrouping but for web dev.

You could always be a total lurker on facebook if you wanted. Turn all the privacy controls on your account up to the max, enter only the minimum required info, and don't friend anyone. Just "like" the Carrion Fields account so you can read and participate in discussions it creates.
