35825, Cabal stagnation

I've been kind of keeping an eye on whats going on with the two evil cabals for a bit and I've begun to wonder.

Do you guys intend to remove these cabals, or is it simply that there is no one looking over either one?

Why do I ask these questions?
Lets see,

#1 Empire still doesn't have any new council members.

#2 Scion has been at 6 players and 14+ apps for weeks.

#3 Empire seems to break its own rules at whim with little or no risk of repercussion.

#4 Neither cabal seems to have ANY active imms (I know you are around Enlilth, but when?)

So whats the deal guys?

Seriously, there are like 3 active scions atm, how hard can it be to like roll the dice, log on and make them leader? For any imm. Or optionally just close the cabal. No inductions for a month and 0 notice about it. It's not about integrity of roleplay or quality of leader characters, for the 22 applicants waiting it's like saying hi there and #### you too letting the induction process go to ####ters like this.

keeping membership low simply means fewer administrators and fewer people around to tend to administrative things. It is just the nature of the beast.

The cabal also requires heavy imm involvement to actually execute its objective (in fact they can't do anything cabal related really without imm involvement, sure we can sit around and pretend a demon is rampaging through galadon but without someone to actually make and control the mob... its just herald for evils)

Given the fact that scion powers are completly out of line game mechanics wise in terms of fairness I am sort of OK with all these things that prevent people from having access to them. The same is true of sect leader powers in empire, they tend to be unbalanced mechanically with the rest of the game but they are ok because only one or two people can have them at a time.


Though the russian perma continues to skirt the perma rules by simply joining the same cabal and that kind of bugs me. (I don't think they neccesarily perma log together but they just have had complimentary character builds in the same cabal for 90% of the last what four or five years now? That seems like coordination for an unfair advantage to me.)

Nope.

Depends on your definition of active. I'm around a fair bit, but not actively interacting with folks, though I do keep an eye that the Empire is doing what it's supposed to and that council seats get filled.

I've been on the backend of the Empire's breaking their own law, talked to an Imm about it, and amid me bitching, was told that it's out of his jurisdiction when I pointed out that Khaso used to skullscrew them for breaking the rules in the past.

Situation is that I've been fighting one Imperial, fought him in the city of Hamsah, and his cabalmates come in and bash me down. You should've seen the spam - after I died at the temple, I see a string of 'you are a ghost, you are protected' when the final guy comes in.
Didn't even fight his cabalmates recently in the city.

that Imperial dogma allows any and everyone to attack you in the city if you strike any one of them there first. At least I think I read that in the laws.

They tend to stay in cabals where they can vote each other in.

The largest of these groups seems to be in Nexus (The "Suck" of cabals) right now, although one of their key memembers may have recently deleted so you may see Empire repopulate.

If we lost Nexus, I think the game would improve do to higher density in cabals and all the cabals we have would make sense.

I don't hate Nexus as much as some people do, but if I had to pick one cabal to axe then Nexus would probably be it.

Removing it would shaft neutral conjurers, though, who would be left with Tribunal as their only cabal option. Non-mage neutral defilers would only have Battle and Tribunal.

It might make Battle fairly boring with respect to cabal wars too. Battle hates Scion, okay, but they usually also outnumber Scion and can hang onto the scepter almost all the time. They may or may not be involved in an all-out war on Empire. If not then they can't raid Empire either.

I for one wouldn't mind seeing a revamp of the entire cabal system. I just don't think their are enough players to support the current system.

Their mission is to destroy Magic not necissarily war with other Cabals.

As I see it holding some other cabal's item is secondary or tertiary to that.

Cabalwars doesn't support this theory at all...but then again there aren't many hero range villagers atm.

Look at the recent statistics Zulg posted. 50 or 60+ characters created a day? I know I can make 3 or 4 in a day just looking at skills.

This suggests to me that statistics aren't representative of reality with reguard to our corner of the universe.

What specifically do you see in cabalwars that suggests Isildir isn't accurate?
