34032, Leader Weapons
Posted by Guilo on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
As IMM's, do you guys see any gameplay problems with tweaking leader weapons?
I don't see why mages get the shaft and have to deal with a warrior weapon... the weapons are so cool for RP, and even if they're worse than the uber stuff, I'd still rather use them.
Why not just make two kinds, the already implemented warrior kind and then a mage weapon with say 40 hp/mana or something. I think it'd be pretty sweet.

34034, I doubt it, highly. Mage classes tend to get other rewards instead, like beefed cabal powers or quest spells.

Leader weapons are fine the way they are. Theyre a perk as it is, and if youre a mage and you stick it out chances are you might get something way better.

34035, I disagree.

I don't think they are... it's not like hero mages trump warriors.. or even by a long shot. I want it more for the RP perspective and quit acting like it's a random haunted weapon I always have to look at that I have no use whatsoever for that's SUPPOSED to be *my* cool cabal weapon as a leader.
And the assessment that mages get better rewards than other people is bunk. Third legacies to quest spells/forms is probably ridiculously lopsided in favor of warriors. If anything I would say mages don't get as good of rewards as melee characters usually do.
Quest forms are ridiculously rare, and if one is out... 5/7 it's been lightmage for the last 2-3 years. Getting aura as a spell is cool, but it's not even 1/3 as good as most legacies.
*Anyone* who sticks it out might get something insanely cool, it doesn't happen all that often. All I'm asking for is a default game design bonus for cabal leaders. It has nothing to do with age or skill, it's deserved for being a leader.

34036, Dude, look around at the mud right now.

The advisor, Chancellor, glastrom....all have things I would want more than a third legacy on a warrior anyday. If you really want the weapon for rp reason, then wear it anyways. You dont need 40 hp and mana on your leader weapon for "rp".

34037, Noted.

But it's rarely EVER the case that three people are ever like that at once. And on top of that, Paralouit isn't even a mage. And a lot of it was RC rewards, not actual rewards for "sticking it out" like you put it.
And you're missing the point and creating non-related off topics. Yeah I could just use it and say whatever, but giving me some incentive to use it is more than reasonable to ask for.. but that's for the IMM's to decide *aka* the only reason I posted it because I think it's a fair point.

How can you say it's rarely ever the case? Maybe from your perspective it appears that way, but you aren't the one dishing out rewards, and you have absolutely no way of seeing the big picture. You have no idea what's actually happening in that department. There could be a LOT of stuff being given out that's just less visible than a leader weapon or a quest form.

34039, It's irrelevant to anything I said in the beginning.
Posted by Guilo on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
This is in no way shape or form possibly a counter argement to not letting mages have leader weapons.
*BUT*
I can absolutely see the big picture, everyone can. Probably over 80% of rewarded characters have a PBF and I get to see what they got... like Jazon getting ethos protection a bit back. Mixed with posted logs, and mixing it up at hero IC and seeing things first hand it's not hard. There's a heck of a lot of evidence of what classes get what, and what it takes to get it.
And it is rarely ever the case to see three cabal mates all intesely rewarded. Tell me the last time it happened?

Without checking dates, I think Kasir, Padwei and Humbert were all in Fortress at the same time.
I want to say Woldrun, Borkahd and Malakhi were all in Battle at the same time, but Malakhi might have been a little later.
Back to your original point, though, I agree that leader weapons generally aren't as useful for mages as they are for melee classes. For some mages they're still useful, though, depending on the leader weapon. Maran leaderweapons prog for decent damage.
Even when they're not useful, though, that's just the way it is with cabal powers. Some benefit certain classes more than others. Not sure why you have such a big problem with that.

34041, Dont forget the pimp nexun healer with lifeshield/bard ...

Actually id go as far to say as generally rewarded people are all bunched into a cabal at once most of the time, because its generally the same skilled players getting rewarded over again with another good char, and lots of times the skilled people bunch up in one cabal.
|
34042, Yeah... there was just 8 people mentioned.
Posted by Guilo on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
I was one of the mentioned as Kyaltaru... 6 were melee, one communer, one mage.
The Village trio mentioned were three chars all close together. I doubt Woldrun even had a reward before Bork AVA'd... and Malakhi caught up to Woldrun on rewards after he had them forever.
The Maran group is the last one I can remember with three characters all active at once that were heavily rewarded.
And out of those 8 character, they were all different players. So I'm not so sold on the skilled players bunch up and get rewarded theory.
This whole thread got SO off point.. I just just suggesting it would be a nice change if Zulg was still feeling Santa-ish.
