33135, Pursuit and Explorers
Posted by EXB on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
So the helpfile of pursuit does mention that a ranger has a chance to chase when in their own "Territory" so I'm curious if anyone can shed light on this. As an explorer plainsrunner (for example) would you have any chance of pursuing a fleeing victim in a forest because of the wanderlust skill?
Don't really wanna level to 45 in order to test that one out if its been tested before...

I do not have a specific character, but when the explorer skill kicks in.....it basically treats that terrain as your hometerrain.
You can tell because when you have wilderness in the prompt, the terrain is in all caps (or something like that) for your home terrain. As your explorer skill kicks in, all the terrains will be all caps. Of course when the skill does not fire, the terrain will remain in lowercase and will not be your home terrain.
Basically, in my experience, it changes terrain to home terrain so it would certainly do what he suggested.

33153, I'd like Immortal input on this.

The reason being, some skills simply won't work outside of terrain even for explorers.
That's been my experience.

You are correct about this. Some skills require a specific terrain, which for a non-explorer ranger will always be their hometerrain.
I don't know whether pursuit is or not.

33167, I think Pro is right

I played a plainsrunner explorer, and pursuit never kicked in for me in forest, for example.
That's not proof, but if I had to bet on it, I'd bet that it doesn't work.
