Can we have a "ping" command?

Idea is, type ping, get your ping in game. So that if you're noticing a change in your delays, or if you're working from a different internet connection than usual, you can check your ping easily in game.

You can "kind of" do this with your client, using triggers.

Or you can just open a command prompt and ping the mud that way.

If you think ICMP packets are being treated differently than TCP then there's a TCP version of ping you can download. It even lets you specify a port, in case you think different ports are being treated differently.

Yeah; I (sort of) knew about those and I've done it once or twice.

The reason why I'm suggesting a "ping" command is it's fast, easy, and you'll never have to change a window. Not only that, but people who don't know how to do it through the command prompt don't need to know.

I was inspired by playing left4dead, where you can see yours (and other people's, although that's not really something you should be able to see in CF) in game. It's a little more important to have fast and easy access to that information in that game than CF, but as someone who MUDs from my laptop and a variety of different internet connections, I realized it's something I wouldn't mind being able to check quickly occasionally.
